[HMG] – For those brave souls who can endure NBC’s ‘The Office’ without medication, its creator, Ricky Gervais has good news – He’s now accepted a guest-starring spot on the US incarnation.

The 48-year old actor has told UK reporters his character, David Brent will go head-to-head with Steve Carell as Michael Scott when he appears on the show.

“I think it would be funny for David Brent to walk into the US Office and hear them all go ‘Oh my God, there’s two of them!’,” he told the scribes. “We don’t need to know Brent’s back-story – Scott could just bump into Brent, who is some bloke from England.”

But Ricky does not believe this could lead to a Brit Office invasion;

“I don’t think we’ll take any other UK characters over – we’ll probably leave it at just me, it’s too complicated.”

One thing that’s not complicated is Rick’s faith in religion -  he simply has none. Living with writer and producer, Jane Fallon for 25-years, Rick says they’ve never got married as he can’t see the point;

“We are married for all intents and purposes; Everything’s shared,” he told Boston. “And our fake marriage has lasted longer than a real one. But there’s no point in having a ceremony before the eyes of God, because there is no God.”

He also admits the success of the show has made him a slob, but denies he only works out to please his new Hollywood friends.

“If I didn’t do that I’d be a massive ball of gout. It’s not because of LA — Even if I was skinny my roles would still be middle-aged chumps.”

So what’s the one thing he would change about his appearance? “I wish my beard didn’t come through gray and ginger.”

He’s surrounded by Hollywood types and still claims he has not heard of hair dye…What’s up with that?
