Angelina Jolie has had a very successful acting career, but it’s not the only important thing in her life. In a recent interview with Financial Times, the 36-year-old actress says she “doesn’t love it” as much as she used to.

“I’ve never not been grateful to be an actor, but I think when I was younger I needed [acting] more. I was trying to question things in life so you find these characters that help you find things and grow. I’m older and I know who I am… and I’m less interested in the character helping me answer something…than in being able to answer it for myself, as a woman, as an adult, with my family.”

She loves being a mom more than anything now, but still insists she doesn’t plan on quitting acting anytime soon. She admits that she and Brad Pitt don’t want to continue acting for the rest of their lives though because they have “a lot of other things to do.” They’ll start to gradually cut back on projects when they feel the time is right.

Jolie also wants to continue to travel as she and Pitt raise their children together.

“Home is wherever we are … I’m very bad at staying in one place. I’m also bad at sitting still… There’s so much to explore in the world… So I love travel. If you can travel I think it’s the best way to raise kids.”

New details about Amy Winehouse’s life in the weeks before her death are now being revealed. One major shocker? Amy was in the process of adopting a poor St. Lucian girl.

Winehouse met 10-year-old Dannika Augustine during a 2009 trip to the Caribbean Island St. Lucia. Dannika is living in poverty with her single mother, who is struggling to feed her. Her mother agreed to give her up for adoption because she couldn’t raise her family. Amy met her through the little girl’s grandmother, Marjorie Lambert,  who runs a beach bar on the island. Amy took her under her wing and saw her each time she visited the island over the past 2 years. According to Dannika,

“Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her ­daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me. “She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

Amy had already hired lawyers to begin the adoption process and was planning on returning to St. Lucia next month. Dannika’s grandmother Marjorie says she spoke to Amy just a few weeks ago about her plans. She says Amy was a very good person that wanted to help everyone and used to beg to take Dannika with her when she returned home.

“Amy wanted to have a child so bad. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St Lucia completing the adoption process. There is no way she would have done what she did to herself if Dannika was with her.”

Last week we saw new photos of actor Matt Damon with a totally shaved bald head on the set of his new film Elysium. Today we learn that Matt was in attendance at an outdoor event in Washington DC and, due to the blistering sunlight beating down, he had to slather sunblock all over his pale white head. It is very easy to get sunburnt in the midday sun so it was very, very smart of Matt so coat his head with as much sunblock as possible.

It looks like Matt Damon did not want to be Good Will Burning when he attended a political rally today. The movie star applied plenty of suntan lotion to his bald head ahead of the Save Our Schools event in Washington DC. Matt cares about the issue deeply as he is a father of four young children, one a stepchild from his wife Luciana’s previous relationship. The handsome actor is currently sporting the close-shaved look for his role in upcoming science fiction action film Elysium. Its plot is being kept strictly secret, but it is a sequel to writer-director Neill Blomkamp’s 2009 hit District 9, and will also star Jodie Foster. (Read more...)

It was a strong weekend for unusual creatures this weekend: The Smurfs tied with Cowboys & Aliens for first at the box office. Both films earned $36.2 million.

Despite the deadlock, Cowboys & Aliens comes out as a loser. Considering the star power involved and the budget ($163 million), expectations were high for the Jon Favreu-directed thriller. Instead, it barely made half of what the top superhero-based flicks of the summer took home in their first weekend.

A look at the top five:

1. The Smurfs: $36.2 million
2. Cowboys & Aliens: $36.2 million
3. Captain America: The First Avenger: $24.9 million
4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: $21.9 million
5. Crazy, Stupid Love: $19.3 million

These two movies couldn't be any more different.

Yet they're both fighting for the first place spot at the box office this weekend.

Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs both grossed $36.2 million each over the past three days.

While Cowboys received generally favorable reviews, Smurfs was panned by critics. Luckily for them, kids aren't too picky.

The other new release this weekend, Crazy, Stupid, Love, starring Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling, opened in fifth place, with a slightly better debut last week's adult comedy Friends with Benefits.

As for the weekend's top five, here is the complete list:
