Gossip Is Good For You Says Aussie Newspaper!

The Sydney Morning Herald (the main Aussie newspaper) ran a story on Friday in their lifestyle section of the paper about gossip and the celebrity fascination. There were some very interesting ideas that came out of the article so I thought I would share it with you. Something to read and think about over your morning coffee?

A fascination with other people’s lives is encoded in our DNA is the main idea in the article. “Celebrity gossip is much more than a fascination with the rich and famous. It is an in-demand social skill that picks up on our intense curiosity about the lives of others, a trait evolutionary psychologists say is deeply encoded in our DNA.” I guess the reason why PITNB is soooo popular is because it satisfies our deeply human desires!
Think about Twitter, Facebook, blogs, reality TV – we all crave information about other people’s lives, people we know and people we love from afar (and wish we knew) whether that is our fave celebs or just someone we’re secretly stalking! (Yes, me included!) :)
