Liz Taylor-Owned Frans Hals Painting Sells For $2 Million At Auction
Posted by Perez Hilton

WOW! A lot of money for a picture of a dead guy!

We kid, we kid. We're sure to a collector, it's an important piece. No, not an art collector ... an Elizabeth Taylor devotee!

A rare and exciting piece went up for auction this week at Christie's in New York: a Frans Hals portrait that once hung in the home of the late Liz Taylor. A gift from Liz's father in the 1950s, Portrait of a Man was painted by Frans in the early 1630s and was a prized piece in Liz's collection, one that had fallen off the radar for many years. Christie's auctioneers originally valued the painting at $700,000 to $1 million, but it sold to a buyer on the phone for $2 million.

Phew! That's no pocket change!!!

Congrats to the lucky buyer; it's quite a piece they have acquired. Hey, if this were Storage Wars, we'd tell them to check the back panel to see if there were any White Diamonds hidden back there! If we were Liz, that's where we would put them! LOL!
