Sounds like this should be more successful than Detroit's attempt to get a Robocop statue erected. Ha!

Marcus Mitchell and Steve White of Armdeonce Ventures are currently seeking out private donors to help them build a monument for Beyonce in Houston, Texas...and we're hearing that the city is supporting them!

Here's what Marcus had to say about it:

"She is the number 1 entertainer from Houston. She’s in the prime of her career, producer, actress; Houston is proud and she comes back to Houston often."

"Our biggest thing is a lot of people get honored when they die, so our goal is to why not honor people why they're still here? We felt as though it’s her time to be honored."

"We wanted to construct, like, a massive hall so as the doors open, if you donated to the monument, you'll have a separate nameplate. There will be clips of Beyonce with Destiny’s Child and wardrobe like a mini museum."

And more from Marcus:

"We’ve gotten support from the city of Houston, from the mayor. We’re waiting for a very nice letter from the mayor right now."

Assuming all goes according to plan, the Beyonument should be unveiled on September (Read more...)
