[HMG] – Facing strong competition from the likes of Penélope Cruz and Maggie Gyllenhaal, if Mo’Nique beats the odds and lifts the Oscar on Sunday, her husband will be right by her side – for once.

Born ‘Monique Imes’ in Woodlawn, Maryland the 42-year old actress and comedienne has made no secret of the fact her four-year marriage to fellow actor Sidney Hicks is open. But she makes it quite clear that she’s never strayed.

“Let me say this: I have not had sex outside my marriage with Sidney,” the Academy Award nominee tells Barbara Walters this Sunday. “Could Sid have sex outside of his marriage with me? Yes! That’s not something that would make us say, ‘Pack your things and let’s end this.’”

And what if it occurred more than once, Mo was asked?

“What if it’s 20 times??” she scoffed at Babs. “We’ve been best friends for over 25 years, and we truly know who we are. Often, people get into marriages and they don’t know who they’re lying next to. I’m very secure with my husband.”

But Mo’Nique also revealed she has a few tricks to keep Sidney at home, and hungry for more.

“I tried shaving one time and it was so painful I said ‘never again. Now I’m 42, and I’m very hairy,” says Mo. “And he loves the hairy legs. And if Sid likes the hairy legs, there you go!“

But there’s one subject even the open-minded Mo’Nique won’t discuss – whether those hirsute hind-quarters might carry her to her Oscar;

“I don’t like thinking about that, because I’m big on the universe,” admits the star. “I don’t want to start to think about what I’m going to say because I don’t want the universe to say, ‘Really? You so sure about that?’….So let’s not jinx it.”

You can see if Mo’Nique does lift the little gold man on ABC, Sunday. Just try not to look near her shoes…

[HMG] – ‘Supernatural’ stars Jared Padalecki and Genevieve Cortese wed in the bride’s hometown of Sun Valley, Idaho, on Saturday, just two months after they publicly announced their engagement,EOnline reports.

The wedding took place in  Sun Valley, Idaho where Genevieve grew up.

Both of Padalecki’s ‘brothers’ participated in the wedding party — his real-life older brother Jeffrey as best man and television brother Jensen Ackles as a groomsmen.

Padalecki, who plays a demon hunter on the CW show, met Cortese on the set of season four, when she took over the role of an evil demon from Katie Cassidy.  I thought that was supposed to happen (the evil demon transformation) after the marriage?

Perhaps made most indelible by his 302-show run on CBS’ ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ Lorenzo, 52, is now planning a new set of nuptials with Beverly Hills-based professional model, Ms. Craig.

“My father is engaged and is over the moon in love,” 24-year old daughter, Shayne tells Us magazine.

The new couple were dating for just over two months before Lorenzo asked the big question on Sunday, during dinner at the ‘Mr. Chow’ restaurant in Beverly Hills.

The back-story on new step-mom Shawna is sketchy at best…but Shayne does not seem to mind;

“As long as my family is happy, healthy and getting along they will always have my blessing,” adds Shawna. “Congrats Dad!”

Not a bad attitude, considering her wrinkly old dad is marrying a girl a year younger than her.

[HMG] – In an inevitable sequel to our earlier story, it seems American Idol judge Simon Cowell and his friend, Mezghan Hussainy are set to get married. And Simon wants kids.

“Simon loves Mezghan, it’s as simple as that,” a close friend told the Mail. “This is something Simon isn’t telling many people, but they are engaged.”

Having just turned 50, the man who once called marriage ‘an outdated contract’ has been seemingly reborn as intellectual jello; In an interview with Piers Morgan yesterday, the normally acid-tongued host said;

‘She’s the one. She’s very special, and you know when you’ve found somebody very special.” And just in case you could still keep your breakfast, he added; “I think I need to have little Simons around.”

He kept his ex, Terri Seymour unmarried and childless for over six years because he ‘hates’ kids…and now this!

But what sounds like first-hand confirmation [which is rare in this job!] follows a week of intense speculation after Mezghan was seen in public with Simon, wearing a $400,000 Graff diamond on her ring finger, and a bracelet believed to be worth another $450,000

The now outed couple met in 2003 on the set of ‘Idol’ and have been formally dating for just over six months. But three years ago the upcoming groom had quite different views about settling down; He then told the UK press that marriage was ‘nuts’ and ‘needs to be overhauled.’

He also admitted that even the idea of losing half his fortune [which his last UK tax return puts in the ball-park of $205-million] in a courtroom ’simply terrifies me.’

Apparently, no more.

But last night Simon’s reps got quite sniffy about all of this; ‘Simon’s private life is private!’ they snapped at the Mail.

Yeah, good luck with that. Appearing in public with your ‘friend’ while she’s dripping with $850,000+ of upmarket bling is a great way to keep a big secret??

Update: US Weekly is reporting that these rumors are officially false. Cowell’s longtime publicist Max Clifford tells them he spoke with Cowell in London and that Cowell says, “No! No, I’m not engaged.”

[HMG] – Unless you’ve been trapped in a closet all weekend you’ll know that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are tying the knot. Well, Nicole’s dad, Lionel Richie is reportedly so happy he’s put on his tap shoes and is eying the ceiling.

Lionel, 60, whose term as the lead singer for the iconic Motown creation, The Commodores has both earned him, and endeared him to millions adopted Nicole [then called Nicole Camille Escovedo,] along with his wife, Brenda in 1983.

On January 11 of 2008 Nicole then made him a Grandpa when she and Joel had a daughter, Harlow. The sequel, Sparrow, arrived on September 9 of last year. And now Grandpa’s hot to trot down the aisle;

“I cannot wait to give away the bride,” he told People. “I’m not sure who is luckier, Nicole and Joel to have each other, or me to have both of them in my life,” says Lionel, who co-wrote the original ‘We are the World’ with his friend, Michael Jackson.

And his two grandchildren are a source of great joy;

“My happiness for Nicole and Joel knows no bounds,” says Richie. “They’ve given me two beautiful grandchildren, and have proven to be great parents.”

The exact details of the wedding are being kept under wraps, but considering Nicole sold the first pictures of Harlow for $1-million I think we can guess how those wraps might come off.

[HMG] – In a story that, regrettably never stops giving it’s now emerged that ex-Presidential candidate John Edwards has proposed to the mother of his long-denied child – Rielle Hunter. And even Jeff Goldblum has a role in the saga.

On January 21, John finally admitted Rielle’s two-year old daughter, Frances was his.

Six days later, a rep for Elizabeth Edwards announced she and John had separated after 32-years, and would be divorced in less than a year.

Now we are told John, 56, chose that time to propose to Rielle, and told her he was buying a $3.5-million beach-house on Bald Head Island [a 12,000 acre private retreat near Southport, NC,] where they and Frances could live.

“John knew Rielle had been waiting for a proposal for two years,” a source told the Enquirer. “Since they got involved, she’s followed every order he gave her, and John felt she deserved to know he wanted to raise their child together, and wanted her as his partner.“

But wait, there’s more!…

At the same time as Rielle was schmoozing with John she was also creasing the sheets with ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’ star, Jeff Goldblum.

The two met in 2006 at the ‘Playhouse West’ acting school in North Hollywood, where 57-year old Jeff leads a class.

“Jeff said he was in love,” an insider reveals. “They were extremely close — totally; A major item.”

So when Rielle realized she was pregnant in 2007, Jeff assumed the baby was his…but Rielle just played games.

“He asked her,” says a source. “But she would only say, ‘Maybe’ — She kept him guessing.”

It soon became clear that Rielle was lying, so Jeff dumped her and moved on to dating 21-year-old Tania Raymonde, who plays ‘Alex Rousseau’ on ABC’s ‘Lost.’ But Rielle didn’t blink – she’d found her mark and just focused on John

“John has said that when his divorce is final, he’ll buy her a diamond ring. But in the meantime, he’s getting her a house,” says a snitch.

I give it two years. By that time, Rielle and her daughter will be well established be in their new luxury mansion – and living alone…
