We're sorry to say it, ladies, but: Phillip Phillips has a girlfriend. And he's head over heels for the unnamed brunette.
"She is so excited for me," the 21-year old told reporters in a conference call yesterday. "She supported me throughout all of this, and I love her to death."
Phillip added that his gal pal has helped him immensely through his kidney ailment - it came out this week that Phillips underwent EIGHT surgeries during season 11 and is due for one in the near future - and if female voters out there have a problem with his heart being taken, well...
... too bad!
"If a girl [voted] for me because I'm cute, and then gets mad that I have a girlfriend, then she doesn't really like the music," he said. "I'm not some cute guy who is trying to be successful off that. I really want the music to come first."
So, why did YOU vote Phillip Phillips for American Idol winner?
New X Factor judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato have one day of judging under their belt -- but that doesn't mean they couldn't use a few tips!
The world's most infamous reality show judge, Mz. Paula Abdul, has some surprisingly sound advice for the new girls.
The former American Idol and X Factor judge says the key to judging is to remember:
"Live television is just that. You have to go with the flow, speak your mind, and just remember millions of people are watching."
Does she think Brit Brit and Dem are going to do her the job well?
Nope! Paula told reporters:
"I think they're going to be fantastic."
She added that Mz Spears seems "lovely" and "very sweet," and, "Demi seems sweet as well."
Aw!
She has nice things to say about everyone!
That is... excluding those things she said about Simon Cowell!

Just yesterday we heard that the winner of this year’s American Idol is 21 year old Phillip Phillips, and today news has broken that the young man who is on top of the world has to undergo serious surgery for kidney problems. TMZ reported that Phillip needs to undergo urgent surgery, which will take place in the next 7-10 days. Apparently, he has needed to have this surgery for some time but has been putting it off until after the show because it requires considerable recovery time. Now that he has won the whole competition, and walked away with the top title of season 11′s American Idol, he can focus on his health before commencing the Idol Live Tour over summer.

TMZ broke the story … Phillips doctors ordered him to undergo a procedure to fix his severe kidney stone problems — which have worsened since the singer went on “Idol” — but Phillip refused, insisting on finishing the show first. But now that it’s all over … and Phillip won … we’re told he’s finally planning on getting the operation in L.A. in the next 7-10 days. We’re told Phillip’s parents will be flying in for support. Kidney (Read more...)

Such a good sport!
Jessica Sanchez, the 16-year-old American Idol runner-up, isn't too disappointed that she lost to Phillip Phillips. In fact, she thinks he deserved it and is just relieved that the season is over. After the season finale, she told reporters:
"I'm kind of relieved that this whole thing is over, but I'm also going to miss everybody here. I really think that Phillip deserves to win and I'm so happy for him."
She admitted backstage that she kind of had a feeling he "was going to win the whole thing" and explained:
"Phillip has everything about him. He has his funny side and his humble side and he's just an amazing, original artist. I think we all are talented and I think we all are going to have really successful careers."
On top of that, she recognized that Phillips worked harder than all of his competition! Srsly, the guy was in serious pain throughout the entire season because of kidney stones and Sanchez respects his hard work:
"He has worked harder than all of us. We've all been working hard, but he's been having to deal with his health issues, with his kidneys, and I (Read more...)
Upon winning American Idol last night, Phillip Phillips dissolved into tears and hugged his parents. It was a beautiful, pure moment of happiness.
But, moments prior to that celebration, Jessica Sanchez treated viewers to a lovely moment herself: expressing true pride and satisfaction when her opponent's name was called.
"I really think that Phillip deserves to win and I'm so happy for him," Sanchez told reporters after all was said and done, adding of Phillip: "He has his funny side and his humble side and he's just an amazing, original artist."
The same is true for Sanchez, who may have lost, but who was involved in what most consider the best performance of the evening: a duet with Jennifer Holliday on "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going." Watch, be amazed and wish this runner-up luck now:
SHOULD PHILLIP PHILLIPS HAVE WON AMERICAN IDOL?
Sorry Phillip Phillips!
Last night's American Idol finale was the show's lowest rated finale in... FOREVER!
20.7 million may sound like a large number -- but in terms of people watching the season finale of American Idol, that's LOOOOW!
On the bright side, Idol's still pulled in 3 million more than viewers than Dancing with the Stars got for their finale Tuesday night. AND, Idol's 6.1 demo score beats the shiz outa DWTS's 3.2 demo.
Actually, no shows did great last night!
Modern Family's season finale was down from last year's, with 9.9 million amazing viewers.
ABC's other finale of the night, Revenge, stayed stagnant with 7.7 million people still interested it's thickass plot.
So Phillip, you're off the hook.
