Last week we learned that singer Demi Lovato was one of the front-runners for the 4th judging spot on the upcoming second season of The X Factor and today we hear from TMZ that she officially signed on as judge. Now, just becuse TMZ is “confirming” the news, we really won’t know for absolute sure until we hear it from Fox themselves. As you may recall, we saw video earlier of Britney Spears in NYC today which is almost certainly confirmation that she, too, has signed on to judge The X Factor as the 3rd judge. Click below for the reported deets about Demi‘s X Factor signing.

Demi Lovato has officially signed her deal and will be a judge on the next season of “The X Factor” … TMZ has learned. According to our sources, Demi will be in NYC tomorrow for the FOX Up Fronts to announce her joining the show. Demi is scheduled to tour this summer, but our sources say her “X Factor” schedule shouldn’t interfere with her touring. Lovato should have company tomorrow … as TMZ previously reported, our sources say Britney Spears will be in NYC to announce she’s joining the show as (Read more...)
Back in early April we learned that actor Ashton Kutcher nabbed the coveted role of the late Steve Jobs in a biopic about his life. Today we get our first look at Kutcher as Jobs on the set of the film, tentatively titled Steve Jobs: Get Inspired. As was noted before, Ashton does bear a striking resmeblence to the young Steve Jobs but many people have voiced their concerns that Kutcher may not be the right person to portray the Apple genius. I can’t say I’m convinced either. Nonetheless, the film is now in production … and Ashton is hard at work on the Jobs.

Wearing a black turtleneck, jeans and New Balance sneakers, Ashton Kutcher was spotted in full character as Steve Jobs as he made his way to the set of the late Apple CEO’s biopic in L.A. on Friday. The 34-year-old “Two and a Half Men” star plays the visionary businessman during his younger years in a movie tentatively titled “Jobs: Get Inspired.” While Kutcher definitely looks the part, it remains to be seen if he can nail the role of a complicated man — part hippie, part driven businessman, part brilliant, and part (Read more...)
Here is some more 60-something casting for ya. This morning we heard about the hilarious new comedy, Last Vegas with Michael Douglas and Robert De Niro. Now we hear that Alec Baldwin has signed on to not one but two new movies. He will be starring in a film with Russell Brand and another one with the movie veteran, Woody Allen. Is Alec lining up so much work because his schedule is freeing up?

According to Deadline, the Russell movie, Man That Rocks the Cradle, will see Alec play an overworked dad who hires a “fancy” nanny and is shocked to find the child whisperer to be a man. Alec worked with Russell on Rock of Ages, and now they are teaming up again. I haven’t seen them together in that one yet, but I’m fascinated to see what kind of chemistry they foster together. I can’t imagine it, but apparently, they got on like a house on fire. There are also rumors of Cate Blanchett joining that cast. Russell and Cate? Strange! Do you think Russell might be the nanny?
The plot and cast for the Woody Allen movie are all still under (Read more...)
NY Magazine’s Vulture raised it a month ago, and now it’s set; Robert De Niro and Michael Douglas will star in the new movie hailed as “The Hangover for the oldies”, Last Vegas. The comedy, written by Dan Fogelman, the writer from Crazy Stupid Love, revolves around four older guys who fly to Vegas for a bachelor party. Is this good casting? Are you excited about this one?

Douglas plays “a man who, before marrying a woman half his age, invites his three childhood best friends on a wild bachelor party weekend in Las Vegas, where old tensions crop up between him and one of the trio over the woman they both loved as teenagers.”
De Niro will play “the party-averse Paddy Connelly, who reluctantly agrees to fly to Vegas at the request of his friends.” He also has “a beef with Douglas’ character over a girl they liked when they were young.”
The oldies ‘hangover’… I love it! The concept behind the movie, a group of sixtysomething pals who reunite for a stag night in Las Vegas, is truly hilarious. I’m imagining a cross behind The Hangover and Grumpy Old Men. They have also (Read more...)

For the past few days multiple sites have been republishing a report by E! News that claims that Britney Spears finally singed her $15 million dollar deal to judge the upcoming season of The X Factor. Unfortunately, that report (and, subsequently, the repeated reports) are wrong. We don’t know FOR SURE yet that Britney signed the contract but it is almost a certainty that she will sign the deal. Plans are in the works for our dear Britney to make an appearance at the Fox Up Fronts event (where the network announces the new & returning shows for next season) in NYC on Monday to officially announce the deal. Folks, we are SO close to the official confirmation but … we’re not there just yet.

Britney Spears is set to make a big splash Monday by personally appearing at the FOX Up Fronts in New York City for the announcement that she will be joining “X Factor.” As we reported, as of Friday AM the deal was NOT signed, contrary to various reports. There were some fairly minor issues that still needed resolving and both sides were hoping to finalize it by end of day Friday or over the (Read more...)
Back in February of last year, we learned officially that actress Marion Cotillard joined the cast of the forthcoming superhero sequel film Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. A couple of months later, it was revealed that Cotillard was cast to play a character named Miranda Tate … but it was widely speculated that Miranda Tate is merely a cover for another character — Talia Al Ghul, daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul (the villain featured in Batman Begins). Today we get to hear from Cotillard herself in the pages of the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter and learn, once and for all, which character she will be playing in The Dark Knight Rises. Spoiler alert warning?

When Marion Cotillard learned in late 2010 that director Christopher Nolan wanted her for a role in his next movie, the French actress, of course, was ecstatic. “I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, his next movie is supposed to be Batman!’ And I’ve always been obsessed with Batman.” Her heart sank, however, when she learned The Dark Knight Rises — the final part of Nolan’s Batman trilogy — would likely start shooting in May 2011, precisely when her first child, Marcel, (Read more...)

It wont be out in time for this Mother’s Day on Sunday obviously, but Deadline is reporting today that a new Indie film is in the works which will be all about mothers and daughters and follow 12 sets of them over the course of a single Mother’s Day. The first mom-daughter duo has been cast and it is Susan Sarandon and her daughter Eva Amurri Martino. Which other mother and daughter actress pairs would you want to see in this new drama?

This isn’t the first time that Susan and her daughter, Eva, have acted on screen together. Eva played Susan’s daughter in the 2002 movie, The Banger Sisters, and she also played a younger version of her mother in 1995′s Dead Man Walking. I really love the idea of this movie and I think the first mom and daughter have been perfectly cast.
I am super keen to see how the movie pans out, especially whether it is set up like vignettes or ‘mini stories’, or whether the the 12 pairs of women all tie into one storyline. The concept though of casting the women with real mothers and daughters is clever and will (Read more...)
Okay, that title is a little cheekily misleading, you’ll have to forgive me. Vince Vaughn is not really a father to hundreds of children, he is in negotiations to star in the remake of the 2011 movie Starbuck, which premiered at last year’s Toronto film festival. The French Canadian movie tells the story of a middle aged man who finds out that he has fathered over 530 children through sperm donations. Do you think Vince is a good match for this role?

The storyline is pretty hilarious; the lead character is described as an “irresponsible adolescent”, which is why I can actually see Vince in this role. He has perfected this character. After his current girlfriend discovers that she is pregnant, his past resurfaces and he learns that he has fathered hundreds of children through his “job” as a donor to a sperm clinic. The plot escalates when his offspring decide to file a class-action lawsuit to reveal their father’s identity, who is known only as “Starbuck” from the donation forms. There is obviously a lot of comedy in this but I’m assuming some real heart as well.
The original film was in French, and it is being remade (Read more...)
