TV News! Someone Died, New Shows, and a Promotion!

According to Entertainment Weekly, ousted ‘American Idol’ judge Kara DioGuardi is teaming up with Jewel for a new singer/songwriter competition series. The 10-episode series, ‘Going Platinum,’ will see DioGuardi as head judge and Jewel as a host/mentor of sorts.

‘Going Platinum,’ previously announced as ‘Hitmakers,’ is currently in production in Los Angeles with 12 contestants vying for a $100,000 cash prize, a publishing deal with Sony, BMI Songwriters The Writing Camp and a recording deal with RCA/Jive.

Contestants will have to write and perform songs from various genres. The judges — including popular recording artist guest judges — will determine the winner.

“Hit songs are the backbone of the music industry, and as a publisher, nothing excites me more than finding new songwriting talent,” DioGuardi said in a statement. “I am happy to be a part of a show that helps up and coming songwriters pursue their dreams, while giving the public a look into the creative process.”

America’s Got…A Dead Person In The Stairwell

A contestant of America’s Got Talent is in talks with the LAPD.

During auditions for the popular TV show at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel in LA, Joe Finley’s wife, Laura Finley, was found dead in the stairwell.  Joe Finley was arrested for possession of ecstasy on the night his wife was found dead, and is a person of interest in the case.  Apparently Joe knew his wife was missing before he auditioned but her body had not yet been found.  Finely was released sunday morning on $10,000 bail.

The production company of America’s Got Talent said that they are fully cooperating with the investigation.

Pics of Charlie Sheen’s Plaza Freakout

As you may have heard, Charlie Sheen had a crazy fit at the Plaza Hotel on Monday night.  He was in town on vacation with his daughters Sam & Lola and ex wife Denise Richards.  That, in itself is strange, but what happened in his room is even more weird, because his daughters slept right next door in the adjoining room!

 Sources explain that Charlie is in New York City spending some time with his ex-wife, Denise Richards, and their two daughters. The pair got separate rooms and Charlie used that to his advantage. He told the police when they arrived that he had been “out partying” when he met a woman that he brought back to the suite. Soon after, he realized his wallet was missing and he turned into a maniac. This friend is more accurately a prostitute and she told sources that Charlie’s crazed meltdown stemmed from snorting a little bit too much of his old friend, cocaine. She revealed that it was after he got strung out that he started to lose it, screaming about how he “couldn’t find his wallet and accused her of stealing it.”

Real Housewives Get Physical…On Eachother!

It was supposed to be a fun end of season celebration for The Real Housewives of Orange County. But in true Housewives style, events took a dramatic turn at the series wrap party when a brawl broke out between series stars Tamra Barney and Jeana Keogh.

The heated exchange turned physical last night, with the women pushing and throwing wine over each other.

Tamra had apparently taken offence at the ‘wildly inaccurate’ interviews that Jeana has allegedly been giving about her. The drama kicked off when Tamra attempted to give Jeana a cease and desist letter written by her lawyer. Witnesses allegedly saw Jeana, who is separated from her baseball player husband Matt, refuse to accept the letter.

‘Jeana said to Tamra, “You’re’ a b**** and I’m gonna throw you’re a** in the pool,’” the eyewitness said.

Matt Damon Welcomes Little Girl!

Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana, have their hands full. The couple, already raising three children, welcomed a girl, Stella Zavala Damon, who was born on Wednesday in New York.

“Mom and baby are both healthy,” says Damon’s rep. “The whole family is thrilled.”

Damon, 40, and Luciana, 35, wed in 2005 and have two children together – Isabella, 4, and Gia, 2. Luciana also has a daughter, Alexia, from a previous marriage.

Christina Aguilera Wants Ex To Move Out!

Christina Aguilera filed for divorce from Jordan Bratman last week after nearly five years of marriage. However, despite the fact they’ve been separated since September 11, neither has moved out of their Beverly Hills home. Sources say it’s so uncomfortable for Christina, she’s been staying in a hotel. Things will get super awkward if she he brings a girl home.

Sister Wives Dish On Halloween Special!

TLC has yet to announce whether it will order a second season of “Sister Wives,” but it has ordered an hourlong interview special that’s set to air on Halloween night.

The Brown family — Kody, Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robin — will be interviewed by NBC’s Natalie Morales on Saturday, Oct. 23, and the special will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 31, at 11 p.m. on TLC.

We’re promised that they’ll talk about dealing with their newfound fame and the possibility of criminal charges being filed against them.

This will make a second season a little more possible, assuming it will do well ratings-wise.

Celine Dion Gives Birth To Twin Boys

The Canadian singer gave birth to fraternal twin boys on Saturday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., at 11:11 a.m. and 11:12 a.m., her rep confirmed:

“Celine, René and their son René-Charles are thrilled.”

One of the babies weighed in at 5 lbs., 4 oz., with the other at 5 lbs., 10 oz.

Ronald Ackerman, Dion’s doctor, said (at a press conference outside the hospital Friday evening) that the delivery was done via C-section and went as expected. He also revealed that the twins were both born with a good amount of hair.

Dion’s rep also says that while the twins are healthy, they will spend the next few days in an incubator because they were born premature.

“Celine is resting now and they plan to discuss what to name the boys when she wakes up,” the rep adds. “René-Charles has been to the hospital to visit his brothers and is just so excited they are here.”

René-Charles is Celine’s first son, and the twins’ older brother. Her husband is named René Angélil.  Who wants to take bets they’ll have the name “René” thrown somewhere on their birth certificates?

Lindsay Lohan: Powerless & Broke

.Lindsay Lohan’s probation report says the actress admits to feeling powerless about being an addict and that she needs to work on her issues to save her life.

Judge Elden Fox received the report before ordering Lindsay to remain at the Betty Ford Center until January 3, giving her a break by not sending her to jail.

The probation report, relaying information from one of Lindsay’s doctors, reads: “The defendant was motivated to look at some of the problems in her life, however, there was some denial regarding her drug addiction. He feels that the longer the defendant is at the Betty Ford Center the better.

The report states: “After the positive drug test with the probation department, Mr. Richman indicates the defendant finally began to talk about feeling powerless  and about being an addict. He states the defendant needs ongoing treatment and has a lot of growing up to do.

“She must make several changes in her life in order to succeed, especially coming from a family of dysfunction.” Lindsay told one of her caregivers that she cannot remain at Betty Ford because she’s broke.
