With her huge wedding to Kris Humphries now reputedly just twelve-days away Kim Kardashian and sisters, Khloe and Kourtney found time for a sit-down with ABC’s Lara Spencer this weekend to review their hectic life.
Nuptials aside, their major concern at present is the new deal with Sears. The trio will have mini-boutiques at 400 stores and seem quite enthused by the potential;
“We helped design this store, we picked what we wanted from the color scheme to the carpets, so it will be cool to see,” Kim explained.
With earnings claimed to be in region of $65-million last year the Kardashians see no reason to rest on their laurels and are keenly pursuing the project, which they consider a life-long goal;
“This was our ultimate dream ever – to create our own clothing line, go into bedding and home….everything from shoes to accessories – Fashion is our life,” adds the 30-year old upcoming bride.
Part of that line includes a special-edition perfume: ‘Love.’ Only 1,000 bottles will ever be made, at $100 a piece. Kim gets one, her bridal shower guests will share 200 and fans are promised a chance at the rest.
Kim was also asked why she (Read more...)
When Kim Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner underwent cosmetic surgery in June everyone was delighted. But she is now facing a lawsuit from a cosmetics firm claiming severe breach of contract.
The firm in question, BP Cosmetics filed the lawsuit early this week claiming 55-year old Kris is in breach of a contract she signed in March to endorse BP’s line of anti-aging skin-care products, because since the signing she has publicly admitted getting a facelift.
They say this behavior violated a clause in the agreement which required her not to harm the firm’s reputation, or that of the product she was paid to endorse – an eye-care line called ‘Beautiful Eyes in a Bag.’
Sources close to the Kardashian family say Kris is adamant the lawsuit is baseless as the product is designed for use around the eyes and her eyes were not touched during the surgery. It just firmed up some loose skin round her neck.
The two sides signed the agreement in March and it was to be in force for one year, with the firm retaining the option to then renew or conclude it.
Any financial redress they may now be seeking as part of the action (Read more...)
Already facing a barrage of lawsuits for financial mishandling and plagiarism, rapper Lil’ Wayne is now being dragged into court to face a $15-million legal claim he stole parts of the hit song Bedrock.
The bosses at Done Deal Enterprises claim Wayne and his label, Young Money Records stole parts of the song, which also featured Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lloyd and hit #1 on Billboard’s Rap Charts and number two in the Hot 100.
The Done Deal dudes claim the copyrights to the samples belong to them and they now want $15-million…or else.
Lil Wayne now has to appear in court on October 12 to answer the claims.
And this is just the latest legal pain in his life – He’s already been served with claims for unpaid royalties from a 2008 duet with T-Pain, music producer David Kirkwood is suing for outstanding payments for his work on Wayne’s album ‘Tha Carter III.’
And yet another group claims he used a sound sample of theirs in the 2006 song, Army Gunz. And he didn’t ask first.
Wayne’s lawyers have made no comment so far but that will change in September when they get into court.
As you know, Jeopardy host Alex Trebek had a rather too close encounter last week in a San Francisco hotel bedroom. Today, the alleged intruder, Lucinda Moyers faced a judge and pleaded not guilty.
56-year old Moyers was arrested last Tuesday after she allegedly broke into Alex’s room at San Francisco’s Marriott Marquis hotel at around 3am and stole a purse, wallet, bracelet and some cash.
Alex, 71, and his wife of eleven years, Jean were asleep in the room at the time. When he awoke Moyers tried to escape. Alex then swiftly gave chase, tearing his Achilles tendon as he ran.
The purse and wallet have been since recovered but the cash and bracelet [a gift to Al from his mom] are still missing.
Moyers is now charged with two felonies – First-degree burglary and Felony possession of stolen property.
And Police say she’s done this before:
She has two past convictions for residential burglary, once in 1990 and again the next year. Under California law, if she’s found guilty on this charge it’s a ‘third-strike’ offense and she could get 25 years-to-life for the crime.
Moyers is currently being held on $625,000 bail and is due back in (Read more...)
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are the gift that just can’t stop giving – Already embroiled in a messy divorce, Taylor Armstrong and her soon-to-be-ex are now being sued for an alleged million dollar fraud.
In a lawsuit filed yesterday afternoon in L.A’s Superior Court a firm called ‘MyMedicalRecords.com’ claims they hired Russell’s Venture Capital firm ‘Nuway Digital Systems’ to raise money so the bosses could enlarge the business.
But the suit claims the Armstrongs calmly pocketed more than $1-million from investors who were ‘conned’ into thinking they were actually investing in the medical group. The plaintiffs accuse the feuding pair of using those funds to ‘live a lavish
lifestyle,’ including redecorating their spacious Beverly Hills mansion.
The suit goes on to complain Russell “holds himself out to the public as a successful venture capitalist who has been instrumental in obtaining $2 billion in capital funding for new business ventures.”
The firm was later bought out by another group called ‘MMR Global’ – of which Russell was a director at the time of this deal. The suit claims this proves he abused his fiduciary obligations by “engaging in a pattern of self-dealing…designed to enrich himself and Nuway.”

When the news broke that Frank Darabont had left AMC’s show ‘The Walking Dead’ fans worldwide were stunned. AMC had remained silent on his departure but have finally confirmed Frank’s deputy, Glen Mazarra will head the show from now on.
The network’s bosses say they ‘expected no changes’ to the second season under Glen’s leadership, who is best known for his work on ‘The Shield’ but they remained tight-lipped on why Frank left the show.
“I wanted to give a very heartfelt thank you to Frank Darabont, who is a visionary writer and director,” Joel Stillerman, AMC’s Senior-VP of Original Programming told reporters at a preview of the forthcoming period drama ‘Hell On Wheels,’ which opens on November 6th. “He created a brilliant pilot, and we’re grateful for his contributions. We’re excited to move on with Glen. That’s about all I’ll say on that.”
But Joel refused to elaborate on the cause of the change. “We continue to discuss his ongoing role with the series,” is all their press statement says about Frank’s exit.
The suits did confirm that ‘Dead’s author, Robert Kirkman and producer Gale Anne Hurd still have their jobs and the series is still on course to (Read more...)
Spider-Man star, Rhys Ifans has been arrested at Comic Con and now faces charges of battery after an altercation with a female security guard.
Rhys, 44, who plays the villain Dr. Curt Connors [and was once engaged to no less than Sienna Miller,] was due to appear on a guest panel at the convention in San Diego on Friday [his birthday] to promote the movie and his role in it.
Just before the show started Rhys and a few of his circle stepped outside for a smoke, but when they tried to re-enter one of his entourage was found to be lacking the required ID. Rhys swore at the guard, then pushed her – and she promptly arrested him.
“He was abusive, belligerent and aggressive, and shoved a female security guard.” San Diego police spokeswoman Lieutenant. Andra Brown told reporters, adding that Ifans’ breath “smelled like alcohol.”
Rhys won a citation for misdemeanor battery for his performance and was released. The case will now go to San Diego’s City Attorney on Monday who has to decide if further action is needed.
Meantime, the suits at Sony Pictures are all over this case, as you might guess;
“Rhys Ifans was detained (Read more...)
Since Simon Fuller created ‘American Idol’ in 2002 it’s made him a very rich man. But he now claims Simon Cowell and Fox owe him millions more for his part in the success of ‘The X-Factor.’
When Simon Cowell launched ‘X-Factor’ in the UK in 2004, Fuller claimed it was a rip-off and sued. Fox worked out a truce in which Cowell got more cash for appearing on ‘Idol,’ but he had to keep ‘X-Factor’ off US screens until this year. And in return for dropping the lawsuit Fuller got a guaranteed piece of the X-Factor pie.
But Fuller now says neither Fox, nor Fremantle – the firm that makes both shows – will pay up.
“Fox and Fremantle made hundreds of millions of dollars thanks to the creative efforts of Fuller,” says the lawsuit filed in LA’s Superior Court. “When it is time to finally perform on unequivocal promises, Fox and Fremantle refuse to pay Fuller a fee commensurate with his stature.”
So he’s suing for breach of contract, breach of covenant of good faith and fair dealing, promissory estoppel and declaratory relief.
The two Simons have been trying to make more cash out of Idol for years. Fuller (Read more...)
In a life that has seen more than its share of legal troubles, rapper Ja Rule is now facing his biggest one yet – The New York-born artist is due to be sentenced later today in Newark, New Jersey for tax evasion and faces three years in jail.
The 35-year old ‘Rule’, who was born simply ‘Jeffrey Atkins.’ was found guilty in March of not filing tax returns in 2004 and 2006, during which time he’s known to have earned more than $3-million.
Rule is also facing a further two years behind bars after a gun was found in his sports car in 2007. He was found guilty of ‘Attempted criminal weapon possession’ last year.
And this is far from the first time Ja has encountered the law – In 2003 he was accused of assault but settled that case out of court. The next year he was suspected of involvement in a fatal shooting, and was arrested again four months later for driving with a suspended license and drug possession.
Then in July of ’07 he was arrested with fellow rapper, Lil Wayne on drug possession and gun charges.
But there have been some good points – He’s been (Read more...)
You might remember Michaele Salahi and her husband, Tareq from their unplanned arrival at a White House party in 2009, to which they were not invited. Michaele’s later attempts to court fame have all failed and now she’s also being sued for alleged fraud.
Early this year a woman named Emily McCallum earned a Master’s Degree and decided to celebrate with a tour of Virginia’s wine country, along with some friends. She booked the tour and paid in full, but then the problems began:
“She scheduled it with a company owned by the Salahis,” a friend shares. “They never showed up and Emily had to get another company. She’s been unable to get her money back, so I’m really glad she’s taking them to court.”
And Emily’s not alone – Several other wine buffs booked tours and claim they got cheated, but Emily is the first victim to press her claim in a courtroom.
In a side note, Michaele also has the rare distinction of being dismissed from ‘Celebrity Rehab’ in March of this year because the producers found out she had no addictions, she just wanted the exposure.
And the story so far has an ending you just had (Read more...)
