TBS cancels George Lopez show, is Conan O’Brien next?

After valiant efforts by both George Lopez and his bosses to gain ratings TBS have just announced they have canceled Lopez Tonight after only two seasons. The show will end Thursday.

“TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight,” a spokesman says. “We are proud to have partnered with George, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air.”

Lopez, 50, is a former stand-up comic and has worked in ABC sitcoms, but since its launch in November of 2009 his talk show has endured dismal ratings. These got even worse following the arrival of Conan, dropping to just 546,000 viewers a night after it was pushed back to the midnight slot to give Conan’s more clout.

The network will air reruns of Lopez’ best shows for the next 2-3 weeks, then switch to reruns of The Office.

And this news may not bode well for Conan – his numbers are stymied at around 700,000 viewers a night, so could he be next?

Real Housewives of New York’s Jill Zarin to quit over Ramona Singer feud?

While Ramona Singer is the face of The Real Housewives of New York City’ Jill Zarin also has fans. But reports claim the popular socialite is considering leaving the show.

Jill, 47, and her husband, Bobby were spied at the Savanna’s restaurant in Southampton, New York where he was heard telling Jill she should consider quitting after the run-in with Ramona over her friend’s alleged fondness for drink.

“Bobby made it clear it was Jill’s decision, but he couldn’t understand what she’d gain from returning for a fifth season,” a friend explains. “Her daughter’s at college and it’s time to take her parents on the cruise they’ve always wanted to do. And the success of her business means she already has a full-time job.”

So what would be Jill’s big reason for leaving? She’s mentioned the feud with Ramona numerous times;

“I tried to be a friend to Ramona. And I thought that she was acting a bit erratic, more than before,” she once said of her co-star. “A lot of times people with problems don’t see it themselves. I really wanted to help her, and instead she tried to turn it around on me.”

After Lady Gaga, Katie Holmes to judge ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ [video]

When Lady Gaga guested on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ last month she was reduced to tears by one contestant’s performance. Now Katie Holmes wants to be on the show and try it herself.

The 32-year old actress, who found fame as Joey Potter in Dawson’s Creek has signed to join Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy on the show’s judging panel, and ‘High School Musical’ choreographer Kenny Ortega will make a guest appearance.

“I’m flying out tonight and going to be a guest judge with Kenny, Nigel and Mary,” Holmes told Jimmy Fallon last night. “I love that show.”

This will be Katie’s first time as a Judge, but not her first time on the show – She displayed considerable skill at both singing and dancing when she performed a tribute to Judy Garland back in 2009.

That appearance was done to promote her charity, the Dizzy Feet Foundation, and also to celebrate the series’ 100th show. And Katie told Jim she’s such a fan of dancing she even does it while driving;

Nicki Minaj teases fans over ‘Pink Friday’ sequel [video]

When Nicki Minaj released her first album, Pink Friday it was an instant success. Now she’s at work on the sequel and says that while Eminem, Drake, will.i.am and Kanye West appeared on ‘Pink’ the next disk could be just her.

“I don’t know, I don’t think I’m hitting up anybody for features for this sophomore album,” she told reporters at the ‘Femme Fatale’ tour, explaining the new CD’s style will be ruled by; “Roman … possibly. But I never give away all my secrets.”

‘Pink’ went platinum just a month after its release and made 28-year old Nicki the first artist ever to have seven singles on the ‘Billboard Hot 100′ at one time. Word of the new album’s impending arrival broke last September and a chat on Good Morning, America last week gave fans precious little new info;

“My best work is ahead of me. Stay tuned,” said the singer. “As soon as I get off this tour, I’m heading to L.A. to work on this sophomore album and it’s gonna be epic.”

Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian unveil their ‘Ultimate Dream’ [Video]

With her huge wedding to Kris Humphries now reputedly just twelve-days away Kim Kardashian and sisters, Khloe and Kourtney found time for a sit-down with ABC’s Lara Spencer this weekend to review their hectic life.

Nuptials aside, their major concern at present is the new deal with Sears. The trio will have mini-boutiques at 400 stores and seem quite enthused by the potential;

“We helped design this store, we picked what we wanted from the color scheme to the carpets, so it will be cool to see,” Kim explained.

With earnings claimed to be in region of $65-million last year the Kardashians see no reason to rest on their laurels and are keenly pursuing the project, which they consider a life-long goal;

“This was our ultimate dream ever – to create our own clothing line, go into bedding and home….everything from shoes to accessories – Fashion is our life,” adds the 30-year old upcoming bride.

Part of that line includes a special-edition perfume: ‘Love.’ Only 1,000 bottles will ever be made, at $100 a piece. Kim gets one, her bridal shower guests will share 200 and fans are promised a chance at the rest.

X Factor’s Simon Cowell calls Paula Abdul ‘a dog’

When Simon Cowell invited Paula Abdul to be a judge on ‘The X Factor’ people were puzzled. This is the same man who dropped her from American Idol, so what was his motivation?

“It’s like owning a dog and the dog will only sit next to its master,” Cowell, 51, explains. “If she’s away from me, she pines. She’s unhappy. She has to sit next to me.”

The two formed quite a bond while judging on ‘Idol’ and Simon says he finds Paula’s odd personality quite endearing:

“I like loopy. I can be a bit loopy at times.” Cowell, 51, tells the scribes. “And she gets on with my friends. We have a similar sense of humor and I tell her there are no rules on this show, so don’t worry about how you behave.”

Paula was an Idol judge from the first season but quit in 2009. Simon left a year later when the ratings began to deflate. His new gig sees him partnered with former ‘Pussycat Doll’ Nicole Scherzinger, respected record executive L.A. Reid, and Paula. And Simon believes it’s a great chance for his 49-year old pet to shine;

Jean Paul Gaultier to interview Lady Gaga in CW Special

Lady Gaga needs no introduction, and as the man who designed Madonna’s infamous conical bra nor does Jean Paul Gaultier. And now the two are teaming up to share the same screen.

Her ladyship will be interviewed by Jean Paul in a CW special called ‘Gaga by Gaultier’ that’s booked to air on September 12.

In their first ever face-to-face meeting shot at Jean-Paul’s studio in Paris the fashion guru and Lady G will debate everything – her ascent to stardom, insider stories of her tour, how she feels about her fans and manages her image, and her abiding love of fashion and art.

And she’s talking to the right guy – Jean-Paul’s a big believer in female empowerment;

“I personally think women are the stronger sex;” he told the press. “They are more intelligent and much stronger than us, and I always wanted to show a strong woman who seduces because she wants to.”

Katie Couric wants to ‘castrate’ Miley Cyrus?

Katie Couric was a guest host on ‘The View’ yesterday and after a pleasant chat with the girls about fashion, Katis confessed she’d like to ‘castrate’ Miley Cyrus.

Kate, 54, explained she’d seen a photo of Miley smoking a cigarette and thought that set a bad example for the singer’s thousands of fans. As a mother herself she considers Miley a bad influence on young minds.

Then Whoopi Goldberg woke up. She’s also a smoker and told Katie she didn’t consider herself a bad influence on children and should be free to pursue a few grown-up indulgences, just as 18-year old Miley should.

As you can see on the clip, Katie seems taken aback by the rebuttal and tries to regroup;

“I’m not gonna castrate Miley Cyrus, but …” she began, and was cut short by Joy Behar who wondered what Katie thought was part of Miley’s physique.

Then Barbara Walters caps them all with an offer of counseling…

I like Katie but maybe she should stick to reading an auto-cue. Thinking and talking don’t go too well.
