Awful! Constance’s Classmates Create Facebook Group To Bully Her

It's truly nauseating to see so many young kids harboring this much hatred and bigotry.

As if Constance McMillen's story isn't horrifying and shameful enough, some of the students at the Itawamba County Agricultural High School created a Facebook page called Constance, Quit Yer Cryin', where they essentially mock the poor girl by posting pictures of the prom she was excluded from and praise one another for being awful, despicable homophobes.

We sincerely hope that these teenagers will someday come to realize how truly cruel their actions were throughout this entire ordeal. How they can sleep at night, let alone be proud of themselves, is beyond us.

Constance Speaks! She And Differently-Abled Students Sent To Fake Prom!

How absolutely heart wrenching.

We reported yesterday that Constance McMillen, the brave young woman from Mississippi who just wanted to bring her girlfriend to prom, was sent to a fake dance by parents while the rest of her class celebrated at a secret location the same night.

Constance has spoken out about the hateful display of bigotry, and we once again are humbled by her grace and perserverence!

"They had two proms and I was only invited to one of them. The one that I went to had seven people there, and everyone went to the other one I wasn’t invited to. It hurts my feelings."

Perhaps even more disgusting, however, is that the organizers not only segregated Constance, but sent two differently-abled students to the fake prom, as well!

Unbelievable. We hope that everyone responsible are all very proud of themselves, singling out and taking advantage of kids with learning disabilities. We're sure that there's a whole lot of karma coming right back at them soon.

Constance, however, is a true class act and focused on the positive so her classmates could have a nice night!

Disgusting! Parent Organizers Send Constance To Fake Prom

These people should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

Constance McMillen, the brave young woman who made national headlines when she fought her Mississippi school district over the decision to cancel prom because she wanted to bring her girlfriend as her date, lost the court people to have her prom reinstated, but was promised a parent-sponsored event for she and her classmates.

We've learned however, that on the night of the alleged dance, the planners sent Constance, her date, and seven other students to a fake venue while the rest of the students celebrated at the real location.

We are honestly speechless.

How could anyone, especially the parents of other high school students, be capable of such cruelty to a teenage girl? And on such a unified front?

We've been told that Constance and her classmates present at the dance tried to make the best of the night, and we're not surprised.

We had the opportunity to meet Constance, as well as her wonderful father, and we can personally attest to the young woman's character. She was lovely, soft-spoken, and genuinely appreciative of all the support and interest so many had taken in her story. She just wanted her prom (Read more...)

Constance McMillen Brings Her School District To Court To Fight For Her Rights!!

It has begun!

As we've reported, Constance McMillen is the Mississippi teenager who has been fighting for her right to bring her girlfriend as a date to her high school's prom. She has made national headlines for her bravery and grace during a very public ordeal, and is now testifying in a US district court case against her school district!!

Of course, NOW the school officials are claiming they thought about canceling the prom even BEFORE Constance came forward with her request!

In the proceedings yesterday, Superintendent Teresa McNeece testified that they were concerned about the use of drugs or alcohol at a school-sponsored prom, so they were hesitant to hold the event from the getgo.

YEAH RIGHT! Like possible drug and alcohol use has ever stopped most high schools from throwing proms before??

She also attempts to blame McMillen for causing massive disruptions with her request.

"We were being hounded every day. Our students were being hounded. We were having a tough time of any bell-to-bell instruction."

Of course, during her cross-examination, apparently McNeece could not give any specific as to what those disruptions were. We're guessing because there WERE NONE.

Mississippi School District SUED For Discriminating Against Lesbian Student!!

Good!! People NEED to know that this is NOT OKAY.

After the Itawamba school district in Mississippi decided to cancel their high school's prom rather than let a lesbian student attend the dance with her girlfriend, they were slapped with a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union!!

The ACLU claims that the student, Constance McMillen, has had her First Amendment right to freely express herself taken away, and is asking that the U.S. District Court have the school's prom reinstated.

McMillen says:

"All I wanted was the same chance to enjoy my prom night like any other student. But my school would rather hurt all the students than treat everyone fairly. This isn't just about me and my rights anymore — now I'm fighting for the right of all the students at my school to have our prom."

Once again, we can't believe how much grace and strength this young woman speaks with.

Keep fighting the good fight, girlfriend!!

You've got A LOT of support coming your way!!

Update! Lesbian Teen Stands Her Ground Despite School Board Revoking Prom!!

What a brave girl!!

We reported earlier that a Mississippi county school board cancelled prom for an entire high school after a lesbian student attempted to fight a rule that banned her from bringing her girlfriend to the dance.

The student, Constance McMillen, returned to school today for the first time since the announcement, and despite backlash from her peers, is holding her ground!!

McMillen says:

"My daddy told me that I needed to show them that I'm still proud of who I am. The fact that this will help people later on, that's what's helping me to go on. Somebody said, 'Thanks for ruining my senior year.' I guess they would rather do that than what's right, what's constitutionally correct. It's a small town in Mississippi, and it's run by an older generation with money. Most of them are more conservative and they don't agree with it."

Poor thing!!

She seems like such a smart, well-adjusted young woman with a good head on her shoulders!!

Daryl Presgraves, spokesman for the advocacy group Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education network, says:

"A lot of schools actually react rather than do the research and find out what the rights (Read more...)

Dear Mississippi, THIS SUCKS!

This is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!

The Itawamba County school district in northern Mississippi has CANCELLED their high school's prom because a lesbian student wanted to bring her girlfriend to the dance!!

SERIOUSLY?? WTF??

The Itawamba County Agricultural High School in Fulton, Mississippi, sent out a criteria for students in February regarding the dance, and one of the requirements was that each student MUST bring a date of the opposite sex.

Obviously, that didn't fly for student Constance McMillen, who's girlfriend also attends the school, and when the American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi got wind of the fuckery and told the district they had to change the policy, the school board issued a statement cancelling the prom for EVERYONE, "due to the distractions to the educational process caused by recent events."

Absolutely disgusting!!

That poor girl!!

Kristy Bennett, the legal director for the ACLU, says:

"But that doesn't take away their legal obligations to treat all the students fairly. On Constance's behalf, this is unfair to her. All she's trying to do is assert her rights."

EXACTLY. It's a violation of her RIGHTS.

So, so sad.

And IF Constance is reading, we know this doesn't make it any better, (Read more...)
