The late Dennis Hopper’s Venice Beach compound is back on the market, but now for $6.5 million. This new price, despite bleak times in real estate sales, is an increase of $1.4 million – more than 25 percent – on the original asking price. And that can’t have been that appealing to buyers since the house didn’t sell. This spread itself hasn’t changed – it’s still 10,000 square feet of living space, which includes a main house and three two-story condos.
Hopper died of cancer over a year ago and since then his kids and widow have been battling it out. You’ll remember the actor filed for divorced from his fifth wife while on his death bed. Seems it didn’t sit well with her and it’s been apocalypse now for all involved in his estate. The Hollywood icon appeared in over 200 films and television shows over his career and is best known for directing and starring in 1969′s “Easy Rider.”
We had no idea he was going through all this around the time that he died, which makes his passing even more sad.
Dennis Hopper filed for his divorce because they were having issues and allegedly his wife was having an affair. It was never finalized because of his passing, and now the Dennis Hopper Trust is suing Victoria Hopper because:
"...they claim that she stole artwork that the estate is legally entitled to. Victoria has also filed a lawsuit of her own -- against Marin and the trust. Victoria and Dennis had one child together, a daughter, Galen who is 10 years old."
What was just filed were documents that claim that Victoria was having an affair with James Cannon Boyce, and they want him to be deposed because he might know where she's keeping the art:
"The docs state: "Victoria had an affair with Mr. Boyce during the time she claims that she and her hsuband Dennis were happily "married and residing together.’ This latter issue bears directly on Victoria's right to inherit Trust property."
Boyce's deposition is being requested because Marin Hopper believes that he could know "where Victoria is keeping the converted art; what pieces (Read more...)

Well, hello there! Where have you been hiding, you seksi little thang?
During yesterday's photocall for the flick Restless at the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival, we were delighted to discover that the main character is played by none other than Dennis Hopper's son, Henry!
Check out the photos from the event (above and below)!
Hot damn! That is one smoldering stare!
He certainly inherited his dad's bone structure - here's hoping he also got some of the acting ability!
Either way, YUM and YUM!

A star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame is only given to those who truly deserve one – with that in mind, here is a look at 16 actors, actresses, directors and musicians who have been awarded one recently. Some of these stars have since passed away (Dennis Hopper), others have had a lengthy career behind the camera such as James Cameron, and others have since won an Oscar such as Colin Firth.

This is sad.
Dennis Hopper's estranged widow, Victoria Hopper, has filed a lawsuit against his daughter from a previous marriage, Marin, and the Dennis Hopper Trust.
She alleges that the Dennis Hopper Trust was ordered to pay her and her lawyers $150,000 in legal fees in the bitter divorce battle they were fighting at the time of Dennis' death in May 2010.
She claims that she has not received a single payment from his trust. And on top of that, she says that a child support check in the amount of $12,000 that was sent to her for their daughter Galen, bounced.
Yikes.
The court documents reveal that she requests $1 million from the Trust to "ensure that the funds will be available" until Galen reaches the age of 19.
She's also seeking "damages" of $50,000 a year in lost income, in which she says, "because decedent blocked Plaintiff from obtaining employment, and he never provided or allowed Plaintiff to develop any economic opportunity herself, Plaintiff was unable to seek employment, and Decedent breached his obligation to put her into a business."
She may have a valid claim on the child support, but the "lost income" (Read more...)

Last month, an Andy Warhol portrait of Mao Zedong from late actor Dennis Hopper's collection sold for $302,500.
While that seemed like a lot of money at the time, it's NOTHING compared to what art dealer Larry Gagosian paid for a Warhol self portrait at Christie's on Wednesday.
Gagosian dropped 10.8 million pounds, or $17 million, on a "crimson acrylic and silkscreen Warhol portrait, dating from 1967," which hadn't been publicly shown in over 30 years!
Overall, the Christie’s International auction made 61.4 million pounds ($99 million), strongly contributing to the Art Boom currently taking place in London.
Who is your favorite artist? How much would U spend for their work?

Ha! We suppose it IS truly one of a kind!
An Andy Warhol portrait of communist founder Mao Zedong (above), owned - and apparently repeatedly shot at - by Dennis Hopper sold for ten times its high estimate during an auction of the late actor's art collection at Christie's yesterday!
The 1972 screenprint was estimated to sell for $20-$30k during the two-day event, but was considered unique because of the bullet holes in it, which Hopper famously fired when he "mistook the portrait on his wall for Mao himself and shot at it."
He later showed Warhol himself what he had done, who decided to consider the work a collaboration, and then drew circles around the points of entry, labeled the hole over Mao's right shoulder a "warning shot" and the one in his left eyelid the "bullet hole."
The piece was sold yesterday for a whopping $302,500!
Wow! With a story like that, we're frankly surprised that no one expected it to sell higher than their original estimation!
Who wouldn't want something that ridiculous?!
LOLz! Hopefully now it's going to a good home!

With Dennis Hopper no longer with us, his vast collection of art, which includes some rather interesting pieces, is finally going up for sale.
Dennis was known as an avid collector of art. Among the 300 pieces in his collection are some rare prints from Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. In fact, Dennis famously shot two bullet holes through Warhol's portrait of Mao Zedong back in the day. Warhol called him a collaborator and now, the "Mao" piece is one of the high-ticket items going up for sale. The 1972 colored screenprint is expected to bring $20,000 to $30,000.
All of Dennis' pieces will be up for auction at Christie’s next week and being a photographer and painter himself, perhaps there might be a piece or two of his up for grabs as well.
We're sure it'll be one of the more interesting collections to behold. No doubt someone is going to walk away with some amazing pieces of art.
One question though - where's all the money from this auction going? Not to his ex-wife, we hope!

From Gary Coleman’s unexpected death, to Alexander McQueen’s tragic suicide, 2010 has seen the loss of many talented stars, many of whom were still young, such as Casey Johnson, who also suddenly passed away this year aged just 30 years old from diabetic ketoacidosis. These are the stars who have left an unforgettable stamp – some have been nominated for Oscars, won many awards and starred in films and TV shows for many years – others, such as Alexander McQueen, was a talent that will forever be missed, and whose absence in the fashion industry will continue to be palpable.

Wowsa!
Dennis Hopper was battling with his ex-wife Victoria in the last stages of his life - and they still exist in his death!
The actor's estate denied Victoria's $45 million claim, but the battle isn't over. She can submit further claims for any property she owns as long as she has proper documentation.
The estate will make sure that their child, Galen, is taken care of.
Victoria's $45,233,653.00 claim may have been rejected, yet they did check the box allowing her claim for $0.00.
Ouch.
