DC Comic Character Is ‘Coming Out,’ So You Better Get This Party Started

This is just SUPER!!

DC Comics -- you know, the guys and gals who publish Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman -- just announced that one of their characters will "come out" as gay in an upcoming issue.

The company is keeping the whens and whoms close to the chest but they have announced a major, pre-existing character will be re-written as gay.

While it’s not uncommon for long-standing characters to change their age, race, or even gender in between issues, the flip-flopping of sexual orientation will be a first for DC.

We applaud them, but why now??

The publishers cited President Obama's couragous public support for same-sex marriage as an inciting incident.

There's only one important question left... WHO???

Catwoman? Dick Grayson? Krypto the Superdog??

U tell us! Which superhero or villain should pin a rainbow badge of pride to their latex outfit??

Jamaican Reggae Star Beenie Man Apologizes To The LGBT Community For His Hateful Lyrics

Woah! Talk about progress!

Jamaican Reggae star Beenie Man used to not be shy about his intolerance toward the LGBT community, but he's ready to admit he's been wrong all these years.

The 38-year-old artist recently recorded a positive message to apologize for his offensive lyrics and ask for the forgiveness from anyone he may have hurt with his words in his youth. In his proclamation of love for all human beings, Beenie Man said:

"I respect each and every human being, regardless of which race or creed, regardless of which religious belief you believe in, and regardless of which sexual preference you are, including gays and lesbian people."

He anticipated backlash from those who will question his sincerity by quoting old songs and countered with this:

"Do not fight against me for some song that I sung 20 years ago. There is no one in this world is the same as they were 20 years ago – I know I am not."

Hear his words for yourself in the video (above) and let us know if U think he's being sincere!

We're sure a lot of people won't be convinced by a 1:35 apology, but we think it takes (Read more...)

Tyler Clementi’s Roommate Sentenced To 30-Days In Prison And 3 Years Probation

Published on May 21, 2012 By

Ugh! That's it?

Dharun Ravi filmed his gay roommate being intimate with another man and posted the video on the internet. After finding out the private moment had been broadcast, Tyler Clementi tragically jumped to his death in 2010.

The 20-year-old Rutger's University student was found guilty of invasion of privacy and bias intimidation in February, but was finally sentenced for his crimes today.

Although we feel he should have gotten more time, at least Dharun will have 30 days in prison to think about what he's done and then three years of probation to remind him of his awful actions.

We're not the only ones who are a little disappointed by the slap on the wrist. Tyler's father asserted that his son's former roommate "still does not get it" and was hoping he'd receive a more serious punishment.

Considering Dharun accepts no responsibility for his former roommate's decision to commit suicide, we don't think he understands the gravity of his actions either.

Hopefully this case at least serves as a warning to other college students out there who might have been foolish and ignorant enough to make the same mistake otherwise.

Do U think the punishment was severe enough (Read more...)

The NAACP Announces Support Of Same-Sex Marriage!

Published on May 20, 2012 By

Perez Hilton

The times are a changing!

Two weeks after President Barack Obama announced his support of gay marriage, the NAACP has followed suit, and announced that their board of directors voted to endorse the civil right yesterday!

NAACP President & CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous said in a statement:

“Civil marriage is a civil right and a matter of civil law. The NAACP’s support for marriage equality is deeply rooted in the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution and equal protection of all people."

And Chairman of the Board of Directors Roslyn M. Brock continued:

“The mission of the NAACP has always been to ensure the political, social and economic equality of all people. We have and will oppose efforts to codify discrimination into law.”

Incredible!

And in response to the announcement, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Executive Director Rea Carey said:

"We are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the NAACP working together on the many issues that affect all of our lives. Whether it be fair access to education and jobs, an end to voter suppression and racial profiling, the right to love and be who we are free of discrimination -- these issues affect all of (Read more...)

Transgender Beauty Queen Makes It To The Top 12 In Miss Universe Canada Pageant!

Published on May 20, 2012 By

Being a pioneer in ending discrimination trumps not taking home the crown, in our opinion!

Jenna Talackova, the first transgender young woman to compete in the Miss Universe Canada pageant, did not take home the title during last night's competition, but she DID make it to the top 12, and was one of four other contestants named Miss Congeniality!

According to her attorney, Gloria Allred:

"She's still a winner as far as I'm concerned. She won an 'herstoric' civil rights victory and that I think is frankly more important than anything, any victory she would win, even representing Miss Canada."

Perfectly said!

All the congratulations in the world, Jenna! We hope you are very proud of yourself!

And props to Sahar Biniaz for being crowned Miss Universe Canada, too!

My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I'm datings to know. I'm not one for a public display of my life.

However that is my right as a HUMAN Being whether straight or gay. To tell or not to tell. As long as I'm not harming anyone.
