Golden Girls Theme Writer Passes Away

Sad!

Andrew Gold wasn't known by many, but his work was loved by millions, young and old, for the last 25 years. Andrew, who sadly passed in his sleep last Friday, was the writer of The Golden Girls theme song. He was suffering from renal cancer and according to his family, he may have had a heart attack while resting. He was 59.

Thank you for being a friend, Andrew. Our condolences to your family, friends and other loved ones who will surely miss you!

Bea Vs Betty! The Infamous Golden Girls Feud!

It's hard to believe that the cast of The Golden Girls felt anything but deep love for one another during the years they were together on the show. Fans, like ourselves, have deluded themselves into thinking those four fabulous ladies were just as friendly and fond of cheesecake off-screen as they were on.

Though the latter bit about the cheesecake might be true, the former, not so much, at least when it came to Bea Arthur and Betty White. According to Betty, who is doing the rounds right now promoting her book, If You Ask Me, Bea had a real problem with Betty while they were on the show. Some thought it might have to do with the fact that Betty won the first Emmy for the show, but Betty believes that in this case, art was imitating life. She explained to TimesTalk:

"She was not that fond of me. She found me a pain in the neck sometimes. It was my positive attitude — and that made Bea mad sometimes. Sometimes if I was happy, she'd be furious!"

That's like, every scene with Dorothy and Rose! Guess they each had a lot to draw upon!

Betty White Is In Favor Of Gay Marriage!

Thank you for being a friend, girl!

Betty White recently sat down with Parade Magazine to talk about her life, her love of animals and her adoring fans. The Golden Girl is aware of her intense gay following and expressed her desire to see gay couples have the right to get married. She explained:

“I don’t care who anybody sleeps with. If a couple has been together all that time—and there are gay relationships that are more solid than some heterosexual ones—I think it’s fine if they want to get married. I don’t know how people can get so anti-something. Mind your own business, take care of your affairs, and don’t worry about other people so much.”

Words of wisdom, people! The woman is an icon! You would all do well to listen to what she has to say!

Betty White Responds To News Of Rue McClanahan’s Death.

Heart wrenching.

Upon hearing the news of Rue McClanahan's passing, her fellow Golden Girl, Betty White, released this statement:

"Rue was a close and dear friend. I treasured our relationship. It hurts more than I even thought it would, if that's even possible."

We can't even begin to fathom how difficult losing all her former co-stars must be.

Rest in peace, Rue.

You will be missed.

Jersey Shore: Senior Edition!

Good for them!!

Why should the guidos and guidettes get all the fun?!

WEtv is getting its own Jersey Shore/Golden Girls hybrid called Sunset Daze, which chronicles the lives of the elderly folk living in Arizona's Sun City Grand retirement village!!

And these gramps and grannies know how to pAArty - they apparently have no problem getting freaky in the hot tub, packing heat at a firing range, and guzzling wine! And that's all in the first episode!

Castmember Sandy Miracle-Jones says:

When people compare us to "Jersey Shore," all I have to say is, "What a nice compliment. Thank you very much." To be compared to twentysomethings, what's not to like about that? I don't think we're as crazy as they are, but we're not dead, either. We have a lot to look forward to, and I think that most of us want to make the most of it.

Just the mere fact that these people know who our beloved Snooki Snickers is gives us reason enough to watch!

Girlfriend is FINALLY hosting Saturday Night Live on May 8th, and when she rolled onto set today, she apparently showed her gratitude by bringing the cast and crew CHEESECAKE!

PETA Uses Bea Arthur In New Ad

This is cringe-worthy!

PETA is using the image of deceased Golden Girl Bea Arthur in their anti-chicken cruelty ad.

The animal rights organization claims Bea left money to them in her will. If it's true, we hope they at least got her family's permission to use her for the campaign!
