New Mom Jessica Simpson Launches Maternity Clothes Line

The news has recently been revealed about how Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson sold the first baby photos of their daughter, Maxwell Drew, to People magazine for $800,000, and now it seems Jess, the singer-turned-mogul, is continuing to expand her business and her profits. Today she has unveiled her plans to launch a new line of chic maternity wear in collaboration with Destination Maternity. This will be the 24th category of fashion products holding the Jessica Simpson Collection name.

The Jessica Simpson brand has already made millions of dollars through the various shoe, apparel, accessories and jewelry lines and is reportedly on track to earn $1 billion by year’s end. It makes sense that Jess is now expanding her business to include maternity wear.

She’s undoubtedly a retail juggernaut, from her own million-dollar empire to her role as advisor on NBC’s fashion design show “Fashion Star.” Now her latest project, Jessica Simpson for Destination Maternity, will hit 700 stores this fall with prices ranging from an affordable $36 t0 $69.

Altho Jess has tweeted some about baby Max, we haven’t seen hide nor hair of the wee darling … and now we know why. While some celebs (notably Hilary Duff and Beyoncé) have decided to share the first photos of their babies themselves (for free), Jessica has decided to cash in on the first photos of her baby girl. Apparently, Jessica sold the first photos of Maxwell Drew to US Weekly magazine for a cool $800,000. Ker-ching!

Did the anticipation for Jessica Simpson’s baby, following a marathon pregnancy, create a bidding war for her new baby pictures? Not really. Several sources told WWD that People magazine will pay the former pop star about $800,000 to run exclusive photos … Simpson’s deal with People isn’t too significant, at least compared to celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey, who sold photos of his newborn son to OK magazine for $3 million, according to reports. New Mom Jessica Simpson Tweets ‘I Am So In Love With Baby Maxwell’

Jessica Simpson gave birth to her darling daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, just 10 days ago but she seems to be doing amazingly well. We haven’t yet been lucky enough to get a pic of the blessed baby, who no doubt is a total cutie, but today we heard from the new mom herself, who tweeted to her fans how she is feeling in the first few weeks of motherhood.

Jess went to Twitter this week to tell the world how happy she is to be experiencing mommy land, and it is quite clear in her comment that the whole experience is incredible and very emotionally charged for her.

“I am so in love with baby Maxwell. I want to cry every time I look at her. Motherhood is by far the best thing I’ve ever experienced.”

How adorable is that? I am sure Jess is doing extremely well and just relishing in the fact that she is a mother. I think Jessica was made to be a mother. Jessica Simpson Weight Watchers Deal: Confirmed, Lucrative

It's only been a week since Jessica Simpson gave birth to her beautiful baby girl, and the star is already thinking about slimming back down.

The mother of Maxi has about three million reasons to, of course.

According to ABC News, the 31-year-old singer signed a $3 million deal with Weight Watchers in which she'll showcase her fit post-baby body.

Jessica will star in a national campaign for the brand this year.

That's a lot of money to lose weight ... not that she needs it.

Jessica has numerous business endeavors, including perfume, lip gloss, beauty products, hair products and commercials and her Jessica Simpson Collection of handbags, shoes, accessories and and boots broke $1 billion in sales last year.

Simpson and her fiance, Eric Johnson, welcomed their 9-lb., 13-ounce daughter Maxwell Drew on May 1. Despite reports that she's already having a meltdown over going back to work, Jessica gushes that she's happy as ever.

Jessica Simpson Definitely Gushes, Possibly Melts Down Over Baby

One week after she welcomed baby girl Maxwell Drew, Jessica Simpson gave her five million-plus Twitter followers an update on her precious daughter.

"I am so in love with baby Maxwell," the singer wrote Tuesday, gushing over her first-born with Eric Johnson. "I want to cry every time I look at her."

"Motherhood is by far the best thing I've ever experienced."

"Little" Maxwell arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles the morning of Tuesday, May 1, and weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs., 13 oz.

Jess claims everything is swell now. OK! begs to differ.

The mogul, who heads a fashion empire that reportedly grosses $1 billion a year and stars on NBC's Fashion Star, is melting down ... the tabloid claims.

The 31-year-old may be cracking under the intense pressure to get back to work as quickly as possible, OK! claims, a situation that also upsets Eric.

He hoped that once their daughter was born, Jessica would take a break from her busy schedule. Whether that actually occurs remains to be seen.
