Indonesian police might be about to shut down a planned Lady Gaga concert which is set to take place next month. The officials are deciding if they should revoke her permit to perform in the country because, after speaking to Muslim Groups, they believe Gaga is simply too provocative. The police released the following statement:
“Our proposal is based on the opinions of Muslim groups who believe that her stage act is not compatible with the culture of our country because we are Muslim. Have you seen her videos? She exposed too much of her skin.”
What is this, the tiny town from Footloose? Apparent so. Yes, Indonesia is mostly a Muslim country (88.2%), and religious traditions should be respected, but those who feel that strongly about Gaga simply don’t have to attend if that is how they feel about it. Then, those who do actually like her are free to enjoy the music they love (50,000 tickets have already been sold), because basically it’s otherwise a weird form of censorship. Muhammad Imdadun Rahmat, deputy secretary general of Nahdlatul Ulama, seems to agree because he thinks a ban is taking things too far:
“The police should not have gone as far as banning the concert. They should not intervene against the freedom of expression.”
Lady Gaga shocked us with her now-infamous meat dress at the 2010 MTV Music Awards. Monday, she debuted a new spin of the carnivorous couture.
Performing inside a meat locker-fashioned set (obviously), the 2012 version is markedly different from Lady Gaga's meat dress as we originally knew it.
With a tighter fit, plunging neckline and skirt-like bottom, it's more compact than the original, which was probably necessary for a live performance.
Which meat dress do you prefer, the new version or the first, now enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Check out the Lady Gaga pics below and vote:

Despite a picture posted to photographer friend Terry Richardson's blog with the caption "showing off her new engagement ring," Lady Gaga is single.
One can see how confusion might arise, but rest assured, our girl is really not engaged to recent ex Taylor Kinney or anyone else for that matter.
Richardson, whose job is apparently to produce viral content like Lindsay Lohan pics or the Kate Upton "Cat Daddy" video, posted the photo on Sunday.
The two have been collaborating on a new book of Lady Gaga photos, which is how this image - of her showing off a massive diamond ring - came to be.
Gaga and Kinney (The Vampire Diaries, Chicago Fire) had been dating for the better part of a year, but reportedly broke up for good a few weeks back.
Friday, Richardson also posted a photo of Gaga wearing nothing but black tape on one of her nipples. Check it out in our gallery of Lady Gaga pics!
Lady Gaga will voice an animated version of herself on the May 20 episode of The Simpsons, and a few images of her guest role have been released.
The episode is entitled "Lisa Goes Gaga."
â¨The eccentric singer, who reportedly kisses Marge Simpson, said of her part: "I play a bit of a sl*t. The apple doesn't fall far from my artistic tree."
Gaga reportedly wears 18 different outfits during the episode. Looks like Homer has some ideas for putting her infamous meat dress to good use ...
A week from Sunday, the Gaga express train rolls into Springfield. The pop star will try to cheer up Lisa Simpson, who has become a social outcast.
Gaga tells Lisa it’s good to be unique and not just like everybody else ... sage advice the Lady has shared with fans across the world for years now.
Should make for some great Simpsons quotes, for sure.
Lady Gaga surfaced in Tokyo, Japan today channeling one of my favorite childhood toys- My Little Pony. Dressed in all black and her signature platform boots, the outrageous fashionista sported an extra long pony tail with rainbow colors spliced through it, paying what seriously looks like an homage to those magical horses of many little girls’ childhoods. She seriously looks like My Little Pony. Is it cute or crazy?

Doesn’t she look exactly like those vintage horses with the magical long rainbow manes?
Gaga is on her world tour and has been making her way through Asia. She started in Seoul, where she faced some religious protesters who labeled her performance as “obscene”, and then moved on to do several concerts in Hong Kong. She is currently embarking on her Japanese tour. These photos were taken as she arrived in Tokyo airport. Japan is known for it’s crazy fashion and love of dolls and toys, so maybe that is why Lady Gaga is paying homage to My Little Pony? I usually find her wacky-for-the-sake-of-being-wacky, but this time I can’t help loving the look – BUT, I am very biased because those rainbow magical horses were the love life of my childhood. This brings back such good memories.
What do y’all think of Gaga’s My Little Pony look?

You might not guess it from their raunchy stage outfits or risqué role choices, but these 5 celebrities all had quite religious upbringings. Some continue to be religious, while others questioned their faith or have taken their own religious path since childhood. Some of these stars have fond memories of religious holidays and occasions with their families, while others have darker thoughts on the topic and even have worries that they’re going to hell.
Beth Ditto
Growing up in a religious surrounding worried Beth Ditto that she might go to hell: “I was overcome by the Holy Ghost one time, but in a Baptist way. I was six or seven, and I was saved. I just cried and cried. It was joy! You live in this shadow that you’re going to burn in hell until you’re saved. And I still worry about it a little. I don’t believe in heaven, but I do still fear hell.”
Katy Perry
Katy’s Christian pastor parents can speak in tongues and Katy had a very strict upbringing: “Speaking in tongues is as normal to me as, ‘Pass the salt.’ A lot of religions use meditation or chanting. It’s a secret, direct prayer language to God. My dad speaks in tongues and my mom interprets it. That’s their gift.”
Lady Gaga
Gaga went to a Catholic school from a young age: “When I was young and I went to Catholic school – an all girls’ school – we were told to pray to God and pray to Jesus, but I always prayed to women. I guess I always worshipped a more feminine force in my life and I didn’t view God as having a particular gender. I always either prayed to Mother Mary or Mary Magdelene, or to my father’s sister Joanne who had (Read more...)
