3 Celebrities, Including Angelina Jolie, Who Starve Themselves

The new issue of Us Weekly reveals that Angelina Jolie starves herself for all the children around the world that suffer from hunger. Jolie, who serves as a U.N. goodwill ambassador, wants to make a statement by going on fasts for the poor children she meets on her trips. The cleanses she does are dramatic, but “that’s how she gets.” Brad Pitt is supposedly very worried about her health as a result of the weird eating habits, but the doctors Angelina visits always tell her she’s just fine.

Many other celebrities have starved themselves before, although none have done it for the good cause Jolie is fighting for. Here are a few stars who have battled eating disorders in the past.

Mary-Kate Olsen

Mary-Kate sought treatment for anorexia in 2004 at the age of 18. She started college soon after her treatment ended and successfully handled the pressure of balancing her health and her workload.

Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie sought treatment in 2006 to figure out “why she’s not been putting on any weight.” Her rep denied that she had an eating disorder, but friends and family believed otherwise after Richie’s weight dropped to about 87 pounds at her lowest point.

Dakota Fanning

17-year-old Dakota started acting at age 5 with appearances in commercials and on TV shows including ER, CSI, and Spin City. Her breakthrough role came at age 7 when she starred opposite Sean Penn in I Am Sam. She became the youngest person ever to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role.

Taylor Momsen

Taylor, now 18 years old, began acting professionally at the age of 3 when she starred in a commercial for Shake ‘n Bake. Her first major role came at the age of 7 when she was cast as Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The young star recently decided to quit her acting career to pursue music.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Now 25 years old, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen started their acting careers as babies. They began filming episodes of the TV series Full House at just 9 months old and took turns playing Michelle Tanner on the series. The Olsen twins have since built up an empire worth millions.
