Earlier today we heard audio from the Billboard Music Awards tribute to the late Whitney Houston but right now we get to hear NEW MUSIC from Whitney herself. As you may know, Houston filmed the movie Sparkle late last year and managed to record new music for the film before her untimely death earlier this year. The full audio of the song Celebrate, a duet by Whitney and her Sparkle co-star Jordin Sparks, has made its way to the Internets for our first listening pleasure. Click below to hear the last song recorded by the late Whitney Houston.
Today we have learned from Variety that a new cop movie is in the works and they have cast Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy as the two leads. Sandra is a cop movie veteran, having perfected the genre in the Miss Congeniality films, and Bridesmaids star, Melissa, is a newbie to the type of role. The yet to be titled movie follows the strained working relationship between a high-strung FBI agent, played by Sandra, and an unconventional Boston cop, Melissa, who team up to take down a Russian gangster. Do you like this pairing?

Sandra is definitely a pro at playing the female cop, and even loves police so much she poses with them on the streets (as she did in this pic). In all seriousness though, it makes sense that they have cast her in this flick given that she is so familiar with the type of role. Personally, I’m more excited about Melissa McCarthy in this movie because I think she will be brilliant as the “unconventional cop.” I also love how she challenges herself with the kinds of roles she goes for. She is currently wrapping up filming for Seth Gordon’s comedy, Identity Thief (Read more...)

Jackie Chan, the famous action man, is in France for the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival to promote his new movie and has revealed to the press there that he is retiring from action films after finishing the most important film of his career, Chinese Zodiac. The 58 year old revealed that he has spent seven years working on this movie, writing, producing, and coordinating fight scenes, and for the first time in ten years, he is choosing to direct himself. After all these years of being the man of action, Chan has finally unveiled that making these movies has taken its toll on his body and that it is time for him to take his last punch.

In his latest film, Chinese Zodiac, Jackie plays a fortune hunter, traveling the world to track down missing astrological antiques. He has come out and said that this is the most important movie of his career, and not just because he is retiring from action after it is completed.
“For the last ten years I’ve been choosing the director to direct me. This one I direct myself.” he said. “I hope this movie, 20 years later, people still remember (Read more...)
Demi Moore has been cast in a new movie, Very Good Girls, alongside Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen and Peter Sarsgaard. Deadline is reporting that screenwriter-producer Naomi Foner cast Demi in the role of Olsen’s mother in what sounds like a right of passage teen film. The crux of the story is that best friends, Fanning and Olsen, are determined to lose their virginity and become adults, but they end up falling for the same guy. This will be the first role for Demi since she pulled out of Lovelace and checked herself into rehab. Is this a good movie for her comeback?

As I’m sure you recall, at the start of this year Demi Moore, who was cast in the much talked about film Lovelace, but took some time out to focus on herself and checked herself into rehab for a couple of months. She reportedly also took some much needed vacation time in the Caribbean. We have had very little information about what really went on the past few months so it is difficult to tell whether Demi truly is recovered and recuperated, but recently some tell tale signs have emerged suggesting that (Read more...)
Last October we learned that the last film that River Phoenix completed before his untimely death in 1993 was in the process of being released and today we get to see the first trailer for the film, Dark Blood, in full. While no official theatrical release has been announced just yet, Dark Blood will be screened at a Dutch film festival in the Fall. Honestly, it’s really very eerie to see new Phoenix film footage after all these years, especially in this dark film but if you’re curious … you can check out the trailer in full below.
This Summer actors Milo Ventimiglia, Sarah Shahi and Sara Paxton will star in a thriller (horror?) film titled Static that was filmed entirely in 3D. Now, 3D films aren’t anything new but most films that feature 3D are not filmed in 3D and only have the effect added in post production. Static was filmed entirely in 3D (which means the effect will look much better in theaters) … so all of the unsettling action that takes place in the film will actually almost reach out and touch us in the audience. Click below to see the poster and new trailer for Static and see if it’s a film that you might like to check out.

It was announced back in March that Milo Ventimiglia (Pathology,The Divide) would be starring alongside “The L Word’s” Sarah Shahi and Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left, Truth or Dare, Shark Night 3D, The Innkeepers) in the 3-D thriller Static. Apparently they’re all wrapped up because we’ve got a trailer for the film. Directed by Todd Levin, “As a young novelist and his wife are coping with the loss of their child, their lives are turned upside down when a panicked girl (Read more...)
Back in January we got our first look at a very sexy promo photo for the upcoming 23rd James Bond film titled Skyfall. In February, we got to see the second Skyfall promo photo. Today we get to check out the film’s first movie poster. As you can see below, this new movie poster bears a striking resemblance to many previous James Bond movie posters. It’s very classic, very Bond. Check it out.

Meh. While I like my James Bond wearing much less (er, at least when Daniel Craig is playing him, that is) I don’t mind this classic poster. The suit, the gun, the swirling abyss … it’s all very … familiar. Honestly, I’m just glad the film is being released at all. Financial difficulties almost derailed this film a few times but James Bond wins in the end (as he always does). Skyfall hits theaters in November.

Oh no!!
Jackie Chan is quitting action movies??
That'd be like Russell Brand quitting comedies!
After promoting his 100th movie, Chinese Zodiac, Jackie told reporters:
"This will be my last action movie. I tell you, I am not young any more ... I am really, really tired."
Awww! That's so sad!
He continued:
"I don't just want to be an action star ... I want to be a true actor. I want to be an Asian Robert De Niro. I want to get rid of my image. So, for the last ten years I've done other films like 'The Karate Kid' where I'd rather play an old man. I want the audience to know I'm not just about fighting or comedy, also I can act."
We guess he's gotten tired of kicking his own butt (as well as the butts of millions of henchmen) and he wants to show people his real talent.
We'll be sad to see you leave the business of butt kicking but we support you in following your happiness!

Great news for the world of literature and film today – we have learned via Deadline that Patricia Highsmith’s great novel, The Price of Salt, is being adapted into a new film, Carol, which is set to star the wonderful, Cate Blanchett and Mia Wasikowska. As you may know, the beautiful story follows two women, and their complex relationship, set in 1950s New York City. Do you think Cate and Mia were a good casting decision?
Carol won’t film until February 2013, but already I’m excited about this one. As you probably know by now, I am a huge Cate Blanchett fan, and I think this is the perfect role for her. The Price Of Salt is a heart breaking and beautiful story, and both Cate and Mia are lucky to have scored these roles, as are the producers lucky to have scored these actresses.

According to the infallible Wiki, The Price of Salt, has a latent lesbian reading. From someone who has read the book, it certainly does, and it has the making for a powerful movie with excellent acting. I can totally see Cate and Mia in this movie and in their respective roles. (Read more...)
