Alaska Airlines To Get Rid Of Prayer Cards

Published on January 26, 2012 By

Perez Hilton

Looks like you won't be having anything extra for your dinner on Alaska Airlines anymore.

The airline has stated it will remove its prayer cards from its flights starting February 1st.

Alaska Airlines has given the cards to passengers since the 70s.

They stopped giving them to coach passengers in 2006.

Alaska Air Group CEO Bill Ayer and Alaska Airlines President Brad Tilden said the following on the new policy:

Some of you enjoy the cards and associate them with our service. At the same time, we've heard from many of you who believe religion is inappropriate on an airplane

Some passengers believed the prayer cards inspired unnecessary fear.

Starbucks co-founder Gordon Bowker said the cards made him believe the flight crews thought "something bad was going to happen."

He stated "if they're worried, then I'm worried."

Brad Pitt Reveals His Relationship With God And The Moment That Changed His Life

Published on January 26, 2012 By

Pink Is The New Blog

Brad Pitt has revealed a lot about himself in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He tells us about his religious upbringing as a child, his relationship with God now, and how he lost his way somewhere along the way but had a ‘light bulb’ moment that made him change his ways. It is so refreshing to hear a real honest opening up… I learned a bit about Brad, no real news here, but I just thought I’d share with you..

We don’t hear many stars talking about religion. Occasionally we have someone showing their religion or culture (Natalie Portman comes to mind straight away) but on the whole, it is not something we generally know a lot about our fave stars. Brad’s recent comments got me thinking… is it that most Hollywood stars aren’t religious or just that they don’t talk much about it.

A few years ago Brad came out and said that he was agnostic, “probably 20 percent atheist and 80 percent agnostic. I don’t think anyone really knows. You’ll either find out or not when you get there, until then there’s no point thinking about it.”

“I grew up very religious, and (Read more...)

Wow! We guess she's serious about this one!

Drew Barrymore is apparently planning on converting to Judaism for her fiance, Will Kopelman, when the pair are married later this year - and has even reached out to former co-star Adam Sandler for guidance during the transition!

A source explains:

"He's even helping her with the process of converting to Judaism. Those two absolutely adore each other, so it only made sense to Drew that he will be right by her side playing an important role at her wedding."

Aww! That's really sweet!

All the more reason to look forward to the big day!

Congratulations, gurl!

‘Blossom’ Star Now Has A Parenting Blog?

Published on January 19, 2012 By

Pink Is The New Blog

In October we reported on Natalie Portman embracing her Jewish identity and taking her son, Aleph, to Temple. Now we see another star upholding her cultural identity by creating a new website, especially for Jewish parents. I wonder if Natalie will use it as her parenting bible?

This gave me a bit of a chuckle. As a good Jewish girl it gives me a lot of pride to see some of my fave stars really being proud of their Jewish identity. Natalie is one of my all time favorites, and not because she’s Jewish. She just seems so real and normal. I wouldn’t say that the Blossom star, Mayim Hoya Bialik, is one of my fave stars… I haven’t thought that much about her for a couple of decades, but I was a bit of a Blossom fan back in the 90′s – I even had a denim hat with a flower on it, just like hers!

The NY Magazine reported that Mayim is now working on a blog dedicated to all things related to being a Jewish parent. The website is kveller.com and has information on it about everything from recipes, traditions and homeschooling to vegan cooking (Read more...)

Gervais Slams Hollywood Acceptance Speeches Thanking God

Published on January 14, 2012 By

Perez Hilton

Continuing his pop shots at the entertainment industry, Ricky Gervais has a few choice words for actors and their acceptance speeches.

A well known atheist, Gervais slams Hollywood for thanking God when they've won an award. He puts his views into perspective with his closing speech at his Golden Globes skewering last year.

Gervais ended the show with the line, "Thank you to God that I'm an atheist."

To say a few eyebrows were raised is a HUGE understatement.

The comedian said the following about his religious rip:

Let's get this in perspective: They're the wealthiest, most privileged people in the world.Imagine if I had gone out there and said, 'We're all in the same gang. Aren't we brilliant? Us millionaires together.

It was a swipe at all those people who thank God because they won an award. How arrogant is that? There's war and famine and God's going, 'Know what Bullock? Write a speech. I'm not going to say anything, Sandra, but write a speech. That's all I'm saying

What does the searing Gervais have planned next?! We can't wait to find out Sunday!

Ricky Gervais Tells ‘Esquire’ Magazine That Celebs Who Thank God For Awards Are ‘Arrogant’

Published on January 13, 2012 By

Pink Is The New Blog

Last month, comic Ricky Gervais (who will be hosting the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday night) sparked a bit of controversy by posing as Jesus Christ with the word ATHEIST written on his chest on the cover of New Humanist magazine. Today we learn that Gervais is at it again with new comments that he made to Esquire magazine about other celebrities (like, namely, Sandra Bullock) who are “arrogant” enough to thank God when they win awards. Additionally, Ricky reveals to Esquire that he is very much looking forward to hosing the Globes again this year … and he vows that he will NEVER host the Academy Awards should he be asked.

On his commitment as an atheist: I have no choice. I can’t help what I believe. Probably the most offensive thing I ever said was “Thank God for making me an atheist.” It was a swipe at all those people who thank God because they won an award. How arrogant is that? There’s war and famine and God’s going, “Know what Bullock? Write a speech. I’m not going to say anything, Sandra, but write a speech. That’s all I’m saying.”

As previously mentioned, the Pope is afraid gay marriage will destroy the future and the ladies from The View discuss what wrong with the proclamation.

The consensus between the ladies is that there is A LOT of contradiction between religion leaders.

They also discuss the definition of terms like "marriage," "family," and "natural." It is refreshing to see all five ladies take a stand against this denouncement.

Elisabeth Hasselback brought a good point that divorce has more impact on marriage that gay marriage. Sherri and Whoopi bring up procreation for infertile women.

Check out the video above and hear The View discuss Pope Benedict's words.

While performing John Lennon's classic song Imagine during New Year's Eve with Carson Daly, Cee Lo Green changed up some lyrics and PISSED OFF lots of fans!

Rick Perry Sees A Movie, Automatically Changes His Stance On Abortion

Published on December 29, 2011 By

Perez Hilton

Rick Perry recently saw a movie, you guys, and it was so good that it changed his stance on abortion.

It wasn't just any movie, either. It was a movie produced by Oscar award winning producer Mike Huckabee, and Citizens United called The Gift Of Life.

Wait, we're sorry. Mike Huckabee isn't oscar award winning. In fact, he's just the former Arkansas governor and Natalie Portman Pregnancy Expert who once said, "Politics are totally directed by worldview. That's why when people say, 'We ought to separate politics from religion,' I say to separate the two is absolutely impossible."

So the movie was probably really impartial.

Anyway, Perry sees this flick and decided that ALL abortions shouldn't be allowed, even though he has been standing behind the idea that abortions in cases of rape and abuse should be treated differently.

Perry calls this a "transformation."

"You're seeing a transformation. It was ... when the lady who was in (The Gift of Life) was looking me in the eye and said 'you really need to think this through.' She said 'I am the product of a rape' and she said 'my life is worth (it).' It was a powerful moment."

Ricky Gervais Covers ‘New Humanist’ Magazine

Pink Is The New Blog

Comic Ricky Gervais, who was recently announced as the host of the 2012 Golden Globe Awards (for the second year in a row), is featured on the cover of the new issue of New Humanist magazine. As a proud atheist, Ricky uses his coverphoto and accompanying interview to voice his religious beliefs (or lack thereof). On the cover of New Humanist magazine, Ricky strikes a Jesus Christ pose and in his interview, he explains his staunch atheism … just in time for the Xmas holiday. Click below to see Ricky’s latest magazine cover and read excerpts from his newest interview.

Ricky Gervais has become a target for Christian outraged by his views on religion. The unapologetic atheist is being targeted on Twitter by a host of believers who have taken offence at his view. The Office creator, 50, has often spoken of his lack of faith, but his appearance on the cover of New Humanist magazine in a Jesus Christ-style pose has pushed a few over the edge. For the shot, he uses a microphone stand for his cross, dons a crown of thorns and has the word ‘atheist’ daubed across his chest in blood red. But (Read more...)
