Today is Oprah Winfrey’s birthday and we should send her lots of birthday love…it has been a big year for Oprah and regardless of what people think of the big O – she is one major icon. Read on for more details about what she has been up to the past few months.
2011 was definitely a defining year for Oprah. In May last year she signed off on the final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. She tried to make her own network take-off and find an audience but that didn’t really take off. Then she announced that is now planning to make her return to TV with a new talk show. There was also all the silly rumors about her being B-Jay’s baby, Blue Ivy’s, godmother too…
Born January 29, 1954 makes Oprah 58 today – she has achieved some pretty massive things in those 58 years. Whatever people think of Oprah, no one can deny that she has done A LOT! As just one example, check out the pics from January 14th at the inaugural graduation of the Class of 2011 at Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Oh man - if this is true, then we would have NOT expected this kind of shadiness from HERE!
Gayle King, has been reportedly sued by professional matchmaker Orly Hadida AKA "Orly The Matchmaker," because she claims that The Big O's main BFF wanted to find some loving, and entered into a verbal agreement with her, under the terms that she would either be compensated monetarily or by being featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show!
Obviously, according to Orly, neither of these two things happened, so she's now seeking compensatory, general, and punitive damages, statutory penalties, restitution, and legal fees for breach of contract!
According to the suit:
Plaintiff and Defendant entered into an oral agreement whereby Plaintiff agreed to act as a matchmaker for Defendant and provide introductions to potential matches in exchange for either an appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," to promote herself as a matchmaker, or payment at her normal rate for work performed.
The work Plaintiff performed for Defendant exceeded one of her package labeled "Orly's Celebrity of Fourtune 500 Search," wherein clients will receive a "two year membership of introductions to the most sought after bachelors in the world, providing the gentleman (Read more...)
This is a must-have book!
Oprah is releasing a coffee-table book chronicling the last twenty-five years of her talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show.
The book, titled The Oprah Winfrey Show: Reflections on an American Legacy by Deborah Davis, will be published on November 15 and will run about $50. Not bad for a collector's item filled with 150 color photographs that covers all 25 years of her show.
Winfrey was "extremely hands-on in the approval processes and conception" of the book, says one of her publicists.
Many celebs have contributed to the book, including:
-- Maya Angelou, who wrote the foreword
-- Bono and Nicholas Kristof, on giving and social action
-- Ellen DeGeneres, Stanley Crouch, and Henry Louis Gates, Jr., on equality
-- Julia Roberts and Diane von Furstenberg, on culture and style
-- Toni Morrison and Elie Wiesel, on books
-- Maria Shriver and Gloria Steinem, on women's issues
-- Dr. Phil McGraw, Mark Nepo and Marianne Williamson, on spirit and personal growth
-- Bob Greene and Dr. Mehmet Oz, on health and wellness
-- John Travolta and Phil Donahue, tributes to Winfrey

It was so hard yesterday to say goodbye to Oprah Winfrey and the show that made her a household name. To her credit, the hour was one of the best episodes in the history of her show. We were moved. We were touched. We were crying so hard, we had to rewind the DVR for the final 3 minutes because our sobs drowned out the TV.
Embarrassing? Not remotely, since we know we weren't alone. According to the preliminary numbers, yesterday's farewell show was the highest-rated broadcast of Big O's show in 17 years. It posted a 13.3 household rating in the overnight metered markets and more than doubled its recent averages. That means there were millions upon millions of other people weeping shamelessly at there flat-screens just like us yesterday.
We could all use a hug! Oprah, where are you???

Welp … that’s it. The very final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show has aired in parts of the country, including the show’s home city of Chicago, IL. As expected, there were no guests on today’s final episode … it was just Oprah and her audience. Oprah shared her love, thanks and tentative goodbyes to her audience in the studio and watching around the world. Click below to watch video excerpts from Oprah‘s final show … including her final “until we meet again” that closed out the show.

Surprise, surprise!
The first day of Oprah's epic finale brought in the viewers with a 10.0 household rating in metered markets! Wowsa!
To give you an idea of how impressive that is, the show's rating almost DOUBLED her average rating for the week ending on May 8.
You'd think that this would be the highest rated episode of the season yet, but the "'half sister' surprise episode" actually brought in even higher metered market ratings.
We're sure that final episode will beat ratings for the "half sister" episode, though…in fact, we'd imagine that the final episode should pretty much have the highest ratings of any Oprah show EVER!
Are U staying tuned to Oprah's epic finale?

Heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time! Such a beautiful performance, we almost started crying ourselves!
Today marks to the second to last broadcast EVER of The Oprah Winfrey Show. To commemorate the occasion, Kristin Chenoweth performed the beautiful ballad For Good from Wicked to honor The Big O and all she has done, including raising scholarship money for over 300 students to attend Morehouse College. Those 300 students were also on hand to pay tribute to the woman who provided them the chance of a good education.
Check out the video (above) to see the magnificent performance…and be ready to cry!
