A few weeks ago we learned that host Steve Jones and judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul (in that order) were unceremoniously fired from season 2 of The X Factor here in the US. Shortly after news broke of the firings, Simon Cowell issued a short statement expressing his regret over the way things went down. Today we are hearing from Simon again in new comments he made to Extra. According to Cowell, he really wanted to keep Paula as an X Factor judge but he says he was overruled by higher ups. HMMM. Read on to find out what else he has to say about the X Factor casting drama.

Simon Cowell blames himself for the big shakeup at The X Factor, saying he set unreasonable expectations for the show, and was forced to let Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger go when it underperformed. “I would’ve liked to have kept [Paula],” Cowell, 52, tells Extra. “She was very gracious, and I said that to her. She understands it’s business; it’s never personal.” Of Scherzinger, he added: “I don’t think she’s mad. I think she’s disappointed.” Why the big changes? “It’s only because I opened my big (Read more...)
We are less than a week away from Valentine’s Day and that means that our fave TV shows are getting into the VD mood in order to capitalize on the big holiday. The principal cast of The Vampire Diaries is featured on the cover of this week’s VD-inspired issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine and as you can see below, they make for a HAWT coverphoto. Not since Buffy had to choose between her love for Angel and her love for Spike has there been a hot girl on vampires threesome like the one enjoyed by Elena (played by Nina Dobrev), Stefan (played by Paul Wesley) and Damon (played by Ian Somerhalder) on The Vampire Diaries. Click below to see the steamy VD threesome EW coverphoto below.

Somehow, for a series packed with vampires, werewolves, witches, hybrids (and yes, even the occasional ghost), it’s a love triangle between two undead brothers, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley), and one very mortal girl, Elena (Nina Dobrev), that gets The Vampire Diaries fans the most riled up. (And judging from the chemistry in our cover photos, it’s not hard to see why. Check out collectors’ covers No. 2 (Read more...)
Twitter revealed today that Saturday Night Live will have a new guest host coming up on the show…new girl, Zooey Deschanel! “Really excited to have @zooeydeschanel hosting this week!” and Zooey re-tweeted “No one is more excited than I am!” We don’t know many of the details yet but this is super exciting for us…

We heard a couple of weeks ago about the string of celebrity hosts that are expected to grace the stage of Saturday Night Live. One of the more left of center choices for some was Justin Bieber. I’m pretty excited though about the prospect of Zooey hosting… I think she is going to be great.
Zooey has had a tumultuous couple of months since splitting up with her husband but things to be getting back on track for this new girl who isn’t that new anymore… I think SNL will be just the thing she needs to get her happy face on again (if it isn’t already) and I also think it will make for a good show. What do you think, are you excited about Zooey hosting SNL?

American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy confirmed last night on the late night TV talk show Watch What Happens Live that the absolutely AMAZING Jessica Lange will return for the second season of American Horror Story. As you may recall, it was previously reported that an entirely new cast of actors will appear in AHS season 2 in an entirely new setting with only a select few actors from season 1 returning as well. The overwhelming majority of people were hoping that Lange would be one of the returning actors … and now we have confirmation. Click below to read more deets and watch video of Ryan Murphy confirming Jessica‘s American Horror Story return.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Murphy stopped by the Bravo clubhouse Monday night and played Plead the Fifth on “Watch What Happens Live” (Weeknights, 11 p.m. EST on Bravo). Host Andy Cohen couldn’t resist asking Gellar about her allegedly ongoing feud with her former “All My Children” co-star Susan Lucci. When asked to characterize their on-set relationship, Gellar laughed and said, “Probably not the most ideal but, you know … better than the ‘Housewives’ reunion!” Hoping for some juicy “Glee” scoop, Cohen dipped his (Read more...)
Last night we saw the new TV show, Smash, make its debut. In its 10 p.m. time slot, it generated real ratings for NBC. The reports are saying that its 11.5 million viewers was the highest it has had in that time slot in more than 3 years. Does this mean that the “backstage musical” is going to be a smash hit? Did you watch, what did you think?

“Smash” follows the story of two female triple-threat (singing, dancing and acting) ingénues, vying for the coveted lead role of “Marilyn” in “Marilyn: The Musical”; Ivy Lynn, the sexy blonde who’s been in the ensemble of every show on Broadway and Karen Cartwright, the brunette “girl next door,” innocent, eager, and bursting with raw talent.
The pilot episode begins with an actress singing her heart out, bathed in the spotlight, but quickly segues to the reality of an audition, where hardened casting people answer their phones in the middle of your song. This juxtaposition of dream and reality is used throughout the episode, and serves as a window into what the producers and cast visualize as the final product of their hard work. We see what could be, should the (Read more...)
We wonder how much this ad cost!
As the network that broadcasted the Super Bowl, NBC had to some ad time to burn with its show promos.
With that said, they featured EVERY show!!!
From Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy to the folks at Community to even The Today Show cast, every one chipped in to sing a tune welcoming viewers to the Super Bowl.
Check out the video above to see the show tune skillz of NBC's greatest!
Poor Jimmy, left out in the cold!
A few of our fave stars are ex-Mickey Mouse Clubbers, including Christina Aguilera, our dear, Britney Spears, and now… Tony Lucca. Who is Tony? He was on The Voice and Xtina didn’t recognize him. It’s been 2 decades but maybe now that he has been rediscovered, Tony might be the next big thing?

Tony came onto The Voice and did a cover of Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble” getting high praise from Christina, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
“It does take a true talent to come along and jolt us out of our seats to push our buttons,” Aguilera told Lucca. “You have such a beautiful, silky quality to your tone and I appreciate you for making us all push our buttons.”
At the time, Xtina didn’t know that Tony actually appeared on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club with her and Britney back in the early ’90s. She ran backstage and was so excited to be reunited with her Mousketeer buddy.
“Britney [Spears] had the biggest crush on you,” Aguilera revealed. “She’d talk about you all the time — and she wouldn’t mind me saying that. Back together on TV! Hello? Does it get better than that?”
