Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ suicide bid denied

You might have seen stories in the less fabulous blogs that ‘Tudors’ star, Jonathan Rhys Meyers attempted suicide this week. Well, a close friend says they’re all wrong.

Reports said the 33-year old was found ‘slumped on the floor,’ by paramedics late Tuesday. The medics thought he’d swallowed some pills, but he refused treatment so they called the Police.

And the boys in blue gave the press a great quote:

“Officers were called by London Ambulance Service following reports of a man refusing treatment,” a Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed. “The man was taken to hospital.”

He spent a few hours in hospital for observation and tests and was later released. At least, that’s the story. But a friend says it’s wrong:

“It was not a suicide attempt,” says the pal. “He had a relapse and was hospitalized for that, but was released.”

The friend says Jon was just weak after a short stay in rehab. And records show it was his fifth.

His first try at sobriety was at California’s ‘Promises Center’ in 2005. It didn’t work – In ‘07 he was arrested in Dublin for disturbing the peace, but the charges were dropped. In June of ’09 he was (Read more...)

Survivor star, Jonny Fairplay’s wife rams ‘dead’ granny

From our ‘You couldn’t make this stuff up’ files comes news that the grandma of ‘Survivor’ star, Jonny Fairplay recently got into a standoff with ‘America’s Next Top Model’s Michelle Deighton, who then rammed grandma’s van in a bid to get free.

Michelle and Jonny’s marriage went south a few weeks ago when she walked out with no reason and took their 3-year old daughter. She then returned to their former home in North Carolina to collect some belongings, but Jonny wasn’t there – and he’d changed the locks.

Jon’s dear old granny – who he told ‘Survivor’ fans back in 2003 was already dead – then showed up and told Michelle she was trespassing. Granny then blocked the drive with her van so Michelle couldn’t run, and called the police.

Sources say Michelle, 23, then rammed the van several times to try and escape, and finally drove over the front yard and into the sunset – empty-handed.

Jon’s gutsy granny was admitted to hospital to make sure she was fine, and was later released with a clean bill of health.

And here’s the best bit – the license plate on her van reads “DEAD-GMA.”

Kelsey Grammer, Kayte Walsh feuding, sources claim

Just weeks after their wedding it sounds like Kelsey Grammer and his new wife, Kayte Walsh already need a good shrink – Spies say the couple are feuding.

The two, who have only been married since February 25 attended the Tony Awards on June 12, and fellow guests say they were bickering all night like an old married couple.

“He was scolding her almost like a father,” a source tells the Star. “At one point he hissed, ‘Do not do this here!’”

The couple later retreated to a private bathroom, and when they emerged minutes the mood was all smiles.

“When they walked out, they were smiling as if nothing had happened,” says the snitch. “For the rest of the night, she’d just sit there and not say a peep….It was like she’d been grounded or something!”

Kelsey’s 56, while Kate’s 29. A gap like that could cause friction for most folks, but are these two in trouble already? Let’s take a vote…

Gwyneth Paltrow joins ‘Glee’ cast in London [video]

The cast of Fox’s hit musical show, Glee are currently wowing their fans over in London and at last night’s performance at the 02 Arena they added a special guest – Gwyneth Paltrow.

The 38-year old actress brought the crowd to their feet when she was introduced and lost no time in getting into her role as Holly Holiday;

“I don’t know about you but I’m ready to sing a little Cee Lo! Hit it!”

As you can see, she then won fervent applause with a rousing rendition of Cee Lo’s ‘Forget You.’ And she’s had a great teacher – She and Cee Lo performed at the Grammys.

The Brits were delighted. They probably read about her guesting at the Glee gig in New Jersey so this must have been a real treat.

Ryan Dunn’s fatal crash site defaced

Less than two weeks after ‘Jackass’ star Ryan Dunn and a friend died there, the site of their fatal crash has been defaced by vandals.

West Goshen Police Captain, Joseph Gleason says Pennsylvania police are aware of the damage and are now working to clean graffiti including the words ‘Ritch P***k” from the barrier through which Ryan’s Porsche crashed on June 20th.

But the Captain holds out little hope of detaining those responsible for this delinquent stupidity as the site draws a great many fans:

“At any given time you have 10, 20, 30 people there,” he tells TMZ.

Some people suggest a possible suspect could be the Westboro Baptist Church who have held protests at the scene since Ryan’s death, but a Church spokesman has since denied all responsibility for the act.

‘Real World’s David ‘Puck’ Rainey arrested

Reality TV is not known as the refuge of rocket scientists and further proof of that can be found in the news that ex ‘Real World’ trouble-maker David ‘Puck’ Rainey has been arrested for domestic violence.

The 42-year old was busted by the LAPD on June 19th at a home on Burnet Avenue in Mission Hills. The cause of arrest is listed as being “Suspicion of felony corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.”

He’s now being held at the L.A. County Men’s Central Jail pending a trial and bail has been set at $30,000. So far, no-one’s helped.

Dave was previously arrested for domestic violence in 2003 but the Police dropped the charges. It happened again in 2009 and he then served a year in the same jail he’s in now. He also got three years probation for carrying an unlicensed gun.

Sadly, there’s more – In 2010 he was arrested in San Diego and charged with DUI after a car crash in which his 8-year old son was badly hurt.

This latest brush with the law is due to be resolved in a court in San Fernando on July 6th and David could be facing at least one (Read more...)

David Duchovny, Tea Leoni announce separation

Rita Rudner once said the definition of a successful marriage in Hollywood is one that lasts longer than milk. Well, it looks like the bond between David Duchovny and Tea Leoni is the latest one to go sour. The pair have just split. Again.

They were married on May 6 1997 and have two children – a daughter, Madelaine West, who’s 12, and a nine-year old son, Kyd.

This is not the first time cracks have appeared in their marital life – In August 2008, David checked into a rehab facility to cure an addiction to sex and porn. Two months later a British newspaper wrongly claimed he was in an affair with a Hungarian tennis instructor.

But it wasn’t all Dave – In the same year as the sex rehab occurred David found explicit text messages on Tea’s phone from Billy Bob Thornton – ex-husband of Angelina Jolie. As you might guess, that didn’t help.

The pressures caused by these events split them up for a while, but they regrouped in March of ‘09.

‘Ugly Betty’ star, America Ferrera married

‘Ugly Betty’ star, America Ferrera proved she was anything but plain yesterday when she and long-time boyfriend, Ryan Piers Williams got married at Vanessa Williams’ luxurious home in New York state.

According to her rep the pair were married at the spacious home in Chappaqua late Monday, and the rep says the whole scene was:

“An intimate setting amongst close friends and family. The bride wore a dress by Amsale’s Christos label and Fred Leighton earrings.”

The pair met in 2007 when Ryan cast his new bride in a USC student film. He then proposed to the 27-year old Emmy winner in June of last year and she debuted the new diamond-topped bling at the Edinburgh Film Festival in Scotland later that month.

“We kind of connected from the get-go on that professional level and that was something that really drew us to each other,” America told reporters at the time. “A shared passion for what we do and our work.”

And the guest list for the event was impressive – There to share the big day were Rebecca Romijn, Jerry O’Connell and Mark Indelicato, and Amber Tamblyn and Blake Lively were also on scene.

‘Baywatch’ star, Pamela Anderson sued for $22m

In 2006 a boyfriend of Pamela Anderson made a deal with Miss Baywatch to help him sell some Las Vegas condos he’d built. Now the ex-lover says Pam flaked on the deal – and he wants $22.5-million instead.

Laurence Hallier is the boss of a firm who built the Panama Towers in Vegas and he and Pam signed a deal in ’06 where she agreed to help sell them by doing personal appearances at buyer events. And in return she’d get one of the rather swish condos herself.

Just one snag – Larry now says she hardly ever showed up.

His lawsuit says he did a similar deal with Leonardo DiCaprio and Leo’s boundless charms helped sell 100 units. But Larry says Pam just missed one event after another, with no viable reason ever received from her side.

He now blames the 43-year old actress for his firm being unable to unload the condos and he wants $22.5-million, which is what he claims the unsold units have cost them.

But this botox-fueled bun-fight doesn’t end there – Pam is already suing Larry, claiming he promised her $1-million if she didn’t end up with a condo, and she didn’t get paid. (Read more...)
