As we've said before, you can't win 'em all!

Yesterday, Rosie O'Donnell's new talk show The Rosie Show (above) debuted on OWN, and the critics just aren't feeling it.

Here's what Liane Bonin Starr from Hitfix had to say about it:

"If you were expecting Letterman, you're sure to be disappointed. This isn't to say the show doesn't have it's charms as well as some glaring problems."

"In being family friendly, O'Donnell is so inoffensive she's simply dull."

More from Newsday's Verne Gay:

"Of course, first nights are messy. They can also be promising. Yet nothing here suggested promise."

"O'Donnell long ago ditched the 'cutie-patootie' celeb interview business in favor of stridency, even anger."

More from Lori Rackl at the Chicago Sun Times:

"The Rosie Show got off to a rocky start Monday with a premiere that was talk show, variety show, game show and public-service program, all rolled up into one muddled hour of live TV."

"Rosie O’Donnell kicked things off at her new Harpo Studios home with a monologue that seemed to be missing something — like funny jokes."

Ouchie! And here's more from Variety's Brian Lowry:

"Airing live creates a sense of (Read more...)

bosnia doesnt want angelina to shoot her directorial debut there

Looks like Angelina Jolie may have to find another location for her directorial debut.

On Wednesday, authorities revoked Angelina's permission to shoot part of her film in Bosnia due to complaints from a women war victims group.

According to Variety, the film is about a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who fall in love in the midst of a war, but must take different paths.

Why does Bosnia dislike this film so much? Probably because Bosnian press reported that Jolie's film was a love story between a Muslim victim and her Serbian rapist.

Culture Minister Gavrilo Grahovac chose to revoke the filming license in an effort to "express our disapproval for the shooting of a movie which does not tell the truth and hurts a large number of victims."

Women war victims groups were furious to hear about the reported subject of a rapist and his victim falling in love.

Here's what Bakira Hasecic, the head of "Women Victims of War" association on Sarajevo had to say about it:

"This is misleading history. Among thousands of testimonies by women raped during the war, there is not a single one that tells of a love story between a victim (Read more...)

Due to Sherri Shepherd and D.L. Hughley's disparaging comments about black men who are "on the down low," GLAAD took out a full page ad in Variety blasting The View.

The ad, which was cosigned by the Black AIDS Institute and the National Black Justice Coalition, reads:

"The Centers for Disease Control has publicly disproven this myth. And since June 22, thousands of people have written to ABC, asking that The View provide correct information to viewers. Unfortunately, those requests have been greeted with silence from both ABC and The View."

And that was just the half of it!

Ready to say you're sorry?!

Miley’s Performance In The Last Song Massacred By Critics!

Ouch ouch ouch!

You might be better off sticking to getting tattoos, humping Aussies and pole-dancing singing, Miley!

The reviews are in for the tweener's latest film, The Last Song, and to call them scathing would be the understatement of the year!

Girlfriend gets TORN TO SHREDS!

A critic for The New York Times says:

"Acting, for the moment at least, seems almost entirely beyond her…she pouts, slouches, storms in and out of rooms and occasionally cracks a snaggle-toothed smile, but most of the time she seems to be mugging for the camera, play-acting rather than exploring the motives and feelings of her character."

And that's kind, compared to The New York Post:

"Cyrus makes the most dubious 'dramatic' debut of any singer since Britney Spears."

And The Village Voice gets the nastiest dig in with:

"I can't recall ever squirming as much as I did during Ronnie and Will’s first kiss; shiny, buff Liam Hemsworth looks like he's locking lips with an Andy Hardy–era Mickey Rooney in a wig."

We'll spare you the rest of the verbal massacre, but rest assured, The Boston Globe, Miami Herald, and Variety weren't any (Read more...)
